Hydra Dine Out Vancouver Menu Review

As a long time patron of Hydra (especially for the happy hour buck a shuck!), I knew I had to stop by to try their Dine Out Vancouver menu offering. They are offering the same menu at lunch and dinner for $49 per person. This menu will also be available for take-out. Hydra is a personal favourite spot because the service is always top-notch and very friendly. They are very attentive and knowledgeable and always happy to make suggestions on what to order or drink. Check out my full review of the Hydra Dine Out Vancouver menu below!

Hydra Dine Out Vancouver Menu – Appetizers

For Dine Out Vancouver you have a choice between 3 appetizers:

  • Hydra Signature Tomato Salad – vine-ripened tomatoes / cucumber/ feta wedge (V)
  • Braised Short Rib Filo Pie – horseradish tzatziki / arugula salad
  • Pork Cheek & Sweet Potato Raviolo – pumpkin seed pesto / caramelized shallots / feta

The winner of the three for me was definitely the Pork Cheek & Sweet Potato Raviolo. The filling was so creamy with the perfect amount of sweetness and the pesto added a nice earthy contrast. It was so yummy!

The Braised Short Rib Filo Pie was on the drier side, but generously filled with short rib. The tzatziki added a nice creaminess to the dish.

The Tomato Salad is light and refreshing as always. But, do note that there is a lot of red peppers in this dish, so if you’re not a fan I’d pick a different starter.

Hydra Dine Out Vancouver Menu – Mains

For mains you have a choice between 3 options:

  • Hydra Signature Lamb Chops – grilled lamb chops / rosemary wine jus
  • Grilled Tiger Prawn Souvlaki – spanakorizo / king oyster mushroom / ladolemono
  • Roasted Vegetable Moussaka – eggplant / red pepper / yukon potato (V)

The Hydra Signature Lamb Chops is a must order for me. The lamb was so flavourful and tender and the grilling was on point. The lamb was cooked to perfection. The potatoes that came with it were so tasty too! Very flavourful and I wish there were more!

Hydra Dine Out Vancouver Menu Review Grilled Tiger Prawn Souvlaki

The Grilled Tiger Prawn Souvlaki was another table favourite. The prawns were large and juicy and like the lamb, grilled to perfection. This was served on a spinach risotto and it was just a touch over done in terms of texture, but the flavour was still really good.

Hydra Dine Out Vancouver Menu Review Roasted Vegetable Moussaka

The Roasted Vegetable Moussaka comes piping hot on an individual skillet and it reminded me a bit of a Shepard’s Pie. My friend really enjoyed this dish and I had a couple bites as well. It’s really hearty and filling and a great alternative to the meat and seafood mains.

The wine pairings for this menu are an absolute must. Hydra has done an excellent job with pairing the food with the best wines. I really appreciate also that you don’t have to commit to a wine pairing for each course. You can choose between a 3 oz or 6 oz pour if you wish for your dish. A particular stand out for me was the Cedar Creek – Platinum Riesling pairing with the Raviolo for the appetizer. And the Poplar Grove – Syrah with the Lamb Chops for the main.

Hydra Dine Out Vancouver Menu – Dessert

Hydra Dine Out Vancouver Menu Review Dark Chocolate Pot de creme featuring Kataifi banana, toasted pistachio and metaxa caramel

And for dessert there is a Dark Chocolate Pot de creme featuring Kataifi banana, toasted pistachio and metaxa caramel. A truly beautiful dessert with the rose petal garnish. This dessert was not at all what I was expecting, but it was still really delicious! I tried a bit of the chocolate and it was very rich without being overwhelming.

As I’m not the biggest fan of bananas, I decided to order a separate dessert. I went with the Ice Cream and Baklava which features pistachio ice cream and cinnamon syrup. The baklava was perfect, not too sweet with a generous nut filling. I really liked the ice cream as well! This is not part of the Dine Out Vancouver menu, but I highly recommend ordering it if you’re a fan of Baklava.

Worth a Try?

Yes! And if the very busy dining area was any indication, a lot of people are already very happy to participate in the Hydra Dine Out Vancouver menu. The $49 price point is very fair given the generous portions and offerings. The menu is well thought out and a really great representation of the Hydra menu as a whole. I highly recommend you make your reservations to try this Dine Out Vancouver menu before the festival is over!
