We went to The Boathouse over the Canada Day weekend to celebrate my grandmother’s birthday.
It was a gorgeous day that day, and I would say that one of the best parts about dining at this particular location is the gorgeous view.
Because it was a long weekend, the restaurant was especially busy. It was very hard to flag down our server and the service we did receive was indifferent and rude.
Also the wait for our meals was excruciating. We waited more than 40 minutes for our food… the only saving grace was the delicious warm bread to tide us over.
What I ordered: Mussel Steamer Pot (Local BC mussels steamed in thai green curry)
This was not as good as usual – quite salty. But the mussels were for the most part plump and fresh, so I would get this again.
Most of my family ordered off the Summer BBQ Menu.
This was the BBQ PLATTER (Slow-roasted pork ribs, bbq slathered chicken breast , bbq prawns)
The consensus was that this was a dud. The ribs were tender but that was the only saving grace of this dish. The fries were limp and soggy, the chicken was dry and chalky and the coleslaw was an inedible dish water flavoured mess.
We had originally intended to order a dessert to celebrate, but the sub-par food, lack of service and long wait times had us itching to leave after we finished our mains.
This particular visit was a disappointment for us as long time patrons of The Boathouse. Hopefully our next visit will be better.
