The Flying Pig

The Flying Pig is decently close to my office, so more often than not, I’ll be here for lunch at least once every couple months. I usually come here for their Happy Hour, but recently I’ve been coming more and more for their lunch (more specifically for their Steak Sandwich!)

Crispy brussels sprouts – lemon, Parmesan and capers ($7)

My friends all recommended this, so we ordered a side of this to share. It was SO YUMMY. If all vegetables tasted like this, I think I would be much happier in life.

Chili rubbed sirloin steak sandwich – served open face, onion rings & caesar ($18.50)

This is supposed to come with a ceasar salad, but I subbed it for the Lobster & prawn risotto. The sandwich was amazing. I would say it’s probably one of the best sandwiches that I’ve ever had! The steak was so tender and flavourful and cooked rare just as I had requested. I know the sandwich is supposed to be served open face, but if there was that extra piece of bread, this would have been the perfect sandwich.

The risotto was a disappointment. I was so drawn by the word ‘lobster’, but there was almost no lobster in this dish and no flavour overall. The risotto was extremely bland, especially in comparison to the tasty steak.

The Flying Pig has pretty standard fare at reasonable prices. The one thing I recommend here above all else is their Steak Sandwich! Try it, you won’t regret it.
