Tap and Barrel – Convention Centre

It’s been a busy past couple weeks at work! So much so that I haven’t had the chance to eat out at all. But today, I was able to break free to go out for lunch to celebrate J and S’s birthdays!

Since it was a gorgeous day we went to Tap and Barrel and sat outside.

What we ate: Santa Fe Chicken Tacos – red mole chicken, salsa, slaw, aged white cheddar, spicy yogurt, fresh cilantro, corn tortilla ($5.00 each)

These were pretty good! I liked the spicy yogurt, it really added a kick to the taco. The filling was pretty generous and the salsa added a fresh taste. I still prefer the tacos at Earls though.

What we ate: Tuna Poke Bowl – albacore sashimi, chopped prawn salad, sushi rice, avocado, green onion, pickled shallots, yuzu ponzu, sweet mango sauce, black sesame seeds, crushed wasabi peas, fresno chili ($16.95)

J had this and he commented that it was quite salty, especially towards the end. He felt that it was a bit too saucy, and he probably wouldn’t order this dish again.

What we ate: Local Wild Mushroom pizza – mozzarella, truffle oil, arugula ($15.95) + Side Tots ($3.00)

A had this and she had no complaints. The pizza was huge though so she ended up taking half for lunch the next day.

Would I come back? Probably not. The view is nice, but the food was only so-so. For view, I’d recommend Cactus Club Coal Harbour instead because I find that their food is a lot tastier.
