NaMì – New Vietnamese Food Truck on the Block

There are no shortage of food trucks in Downtown, but Namì Food Cart is the first to offer bánh mì and other classic Vietnamese eats. The food cart is located on the corner of West Georgia and Granville Street, right in the downtown core.

Meatball (Xiu Mai) bánh mì ($8.50) and Traditional bánh mì ($7.50)

I came by with Trudy just as they were closing on a Sunday afternoon so the options were pretty limited. We got one meatball and one traditional bánh mì to share.

The Meatball featured Vietnamese style meatballs, with a tomato and chili sauce, spread of patè, lemongrass and chili aioli, pickled daikon and carrot, and topped with chopped cilantro.

This was my favourite, because the meatballs were warm and packed full of flavour. The pickles really offset the heaviness and greasiness from the meatballs and each bite was full of flavour and ingredients.

The Traditional featured Vietnamese ham, cured pork belly, and head cheese, spread of paté, spread of lemongrass and chili aioli, dash of house sauce, cucumber, jalapeños, pickled daikon and carrot, topped with cilantro.

This was a classic bánh mì and it didn’t disappoint. There was a generous serving of ingredients and each bite had a little bit of everything.

Overall, I really enjoyed the two bánh mì’s I had from NaMì. The pricing is a bit steep in my opinion, but it is in line with Downtown pricing.

I can’t wait to come back to try their papaya salad and Le Petit Dejuner bánh mì for breakfast!

TIP: On May 11 and 12 to celebrate Mother’s Day, Namì will be offering buy-one-get-one free bánh mì!
