Exploring Langley from Vancouver – Day Trip Itinerary

Langley day trip itinerary at township 7 winery

Summer is in full swing, and we are officially in Step 3 of the BC Restart Plan, which means we can now travel across Canada! It can be daunting to immediately jump into a plane, so why not take a short day trip out to Langley? We are so lucky to have so many amazing escapes so close to home, and the Fraser Valley is one of them. This is my first time venturing out to Langley, so I couldn’t wait to explore. Langley is a great day trip because there is such a variety of activities that you can do that can’t be done in Vancouver. My trip is just a snippet of what Langley has to offer, and will hopefully guide you in planning your own Langley day trip itinerary. Check out my full vlog!

Krause Berry Farms & Estate Winery

We headed out in the morning and traffic was fair. It took us about 1 hour to reach our first destination – Krause Berry Farms & Estate Winery. This is one of the most popular farms in town, and while it was bustling on a weekday afternoon, the wait times weren’t too long. Krause Berry Farms has been around since 1974. The farm features family friendly U-pick fields, restaurants, a waffle bar (and drive in!), bakery, home and garden market and their Estate Winery.

Fresh blueberry and whipped cream on house made waffles at Krause Berry Farms

The waffles at Krause Berry Farms are legendary, and absolutely cannot be missed. The berry topping rotates depending on the season, and on our visit we were lucky to try the blueberry waffles! The waffles are made fresh, so they are crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. They are topped with a very generous amount of whipping cream and fresh blueberries. To wash it all down, we sampled their blueberry mimosa which was very refreshing!

We had our waffles out on the lovely garden as it wasn’t too sunny on our visit. It was so lovely enjoying the outdoors while indulging in these delicious waffles.

On this visit we didn’t have the opportunity to partake in the U-pick, but we did drop by the market to pick up a variety of berries.

Township 7 Vineyards & Winery

Township 7 Vineyards & Winery in Langley BC

After our delicious brunch, we set off to Township 7 Vineyards & Winery. As a huge fan of wine, I was very excited to finally experience my very first winery! This beautiful winery is only 45 minutes away from Downtown Vancouver. Township 7 Winery is a stunning and lush gem. They have a beautiful new patio to enjoy their wines as well as a cellar style tasting room.

They currently offer two tastings – $7 Provenance Tasting and $15 Benchmark Tasting ($7 waived with any wine purchase). It was so relaxing to enjoy the vineyards, the breeze and the delicious wine!

To cap it all off, I was given the opportunity to saber a bottle of sparkling wine. It was daunting at first, but the staff was extremely helpful and encouraging. With some practice motions and a deep breath I was able to do it on my first try!

Haven Kitchen + Bar

Fully hydrated, we went to Haven Kitchen + Bar to fill our bellies. If you haven’t already seen this gorgeous restaurant on Instagram, you are missing out. The interior design of this restaurant is absolutely flawless. I particularly love the “Choose your own adventure” neon signage above the bar.

There are plenty of cocktails to choose from here but we went with the Haven Paloma and Haven G&T. The Haven Paloma features Espolon Blanco tequila, Jarritos grapefruit soda, fresh lime juice, and habanero grapefruit pearls. The Haven G&T features Empress gin, lemongrass, lime leaf, Fentimans tonic water, and a lime wheel. Both drinks were beautiful to look at and delicious to drink.

For food we decided on some house favourites – miso truffle fries, peanut tofu bao buns and dill pickle fried chicken wings. The standout for me was definitely the peanut tofu bao buns. The buns were so soft and fluffy while the tofu was perfectly fried. It was such a great textural contrast that was full of peanut flavour.

For our mains we went with the Saunder’s fried chicken sandwich and 8 oz Tiki flat iron steak. The chicken sandwich was a total flavour bomb. The chicken was so moist and juicy. I would definitely order this sandwich again. The vegetables added a nice refreshing break from the chicken. There was a bit of a kick from the smoked chilli bbq rub. The vibe at Haven Kitchen + Bar is immaculate, and I can see why it was so popular.

McBurney Plaza

We couldn’t end the trip without paying McBurney Plaza a visit. This is named as one of Canada’s Great Public Places and is an integral part of Downtown Langley.

While it was too late to visit any of the shops, we did enjoy the beautiful umbrella art installation. It took two days to string all 230 vibrantly coloured umbrellas and the effect is stunning.

All in all, this was a fantastic little day trip! I really enjoyed the wide variety of experiences I got to enjoy, and I feel the spots I went to really showcase the variety available in Langley. There are so many more gems still waiting to be experienced, and I can’t wait to go back!
