If you haven’t been already, Mello is crafting up some of the best donuts in Vancouver. Their bright yellow storefront stands out like a bright ray of sunshine in Vancouver Chinatown. They have such a wide variety of delicious soft and fluffy brioche donuts. Until now, all their treats were sweet but as they are always innovating, Mello has come up with a brand new savoury donut! The Everything Bagel Donut, is everything you love about the bagel but in donut form! It is truly the best excuse (as if you need one!) to have a donut for breakfast.
What are brioche donuts?
Brioche donuts are the richer cousin of your everyday donut. Brioche donuts are made up of plenty of eggs, milk and butter in addition to the standard donut ingredients (including yeast). These donuts are the perfect base for fillings because they’re so light and fluffy.
Everything Bagel Donut at Mello
The Everything Bagel Donut at Mello features their signature light brioche donut coated on the outside with a house made “Everything But the Bagel” seasoning. This creates a lovely crust on the outside of the donut which goes so well with the soft fluffy interior. The inside of the donut is a chive cream cheese filling and it is so light and airy. If you have your doubts about a savoury donut, this will change your mind.
Is It Worth a Try?
Yes! I am a huge fan of Mello, and I love that they are testing the waters with new and innovative flavours. In addition to the Everything Bagel donut, they have also added a Lamington Donut as well.
As always, a friendly reminder that Mello is extremely busy so I highly recommend you preorder in advance to avoid missing out a flavour you want to try! The crème brûlée for example is a personal favourite and needs to be preordered!
