Café Kitsuné is A Must Try Aesthetic Cafe in Gastown Vancouver

Maison Kitsuné is the brainchild of Gildas Loaëc and Masaya Kuroki. It blends together a fashion brand (Maison Kitsuné), music label (Kitsuné Musique) and coffee shops (Café Kitsuné). Their newest location is in Gastown in Downtown Vancouver. This Paris-meets-Tokyo brand combines a sleek aesthetic with it’s quirky and fun fox logo. The new retail location and eatery are located at 159 and 157 Water Street. It is a bit hard to find at the moment with major construction in that area, but there is a sandwich board that will guide you to the entrance of Maison Kitsuné. Both shops are connected, so it’s easy to check out both sides. Café Kitsuné Vancouver is serving up an excellent line up of coffee and teas as well as a fantastic selection of baked goods and savoury dishes.

Café Kitsuné Brunch

I went by on a gorgeous sunny day to enjoy a nice leisurely brunch. I asked the staff what their favourite dish was, and the Smoked Salmon Croque Madame came highly recommended.

This delicious French dish has two slices of bread that holds a generous amount of smoked salmon between them. To finish this delectable dish is some baked cheese and a perfectly fried sunny side up egg. This dish was so decadent from start to finish. The small salad with a carrot ginger dressing was the perfect bite to lighten up the dish.

Café Kitsuné Coffee and Tea

To accompany my brunch I had an Iced Latte, Matcha Latte and Tea. All the drinks were excellently prepared. I particularly enjoy the latte as the coffee had some sweet notes that went perfectly with the creamy milk. The tea was on the weaker side, but that may be due to the fact that I did not allow it to steep for long enough. Of course I could not go to Café Kitsuné without ordering the famous fox cookie! It was an ultra buttery delight that pairs well with a nice strong coffee. All the baked goods are from Butterboom Bakery which is helmed by Aaron Surman (formerly of Lucky’s Doughnuts).

Worth a Try?

Yes! Café Kitsuné is such a beautiful café with immaculate vibes. I felt as if I was in Tokyo or Paris enjoying a leisurely afternoon. Their coffee menu is well priced and in line with the area, however their food and dessert menu is definitely on the higher side. However, I do believe that the dishes match the price and the ambiance.
