Ikoi Cha Mochi Donuts – New Spot for Mochi Donuts in Vancouver

One of my favourite desserts is mochi donuts, and it’s a pity that they aren’t more available in Vancouver. My favourite spot to get these treats are definitely Mister Donut in Japan. Somehow their mochi donuts are so light and fluffy without being oily. Unfortunately, I have yet to find something similar locally. However, there are a few spots in Vancouver who makes mochi donuts including Mochido and Holy Mochi Donuts. New on the scene is Ikoi Cha. They replaced all the Gong Cha’s in Vancouver and in addition to egg bubble waffles they also now have mochi donuts! Check out my full review of Ikoi Cha mochi donuts below.

Ikoi Cha – Mochi Donuts

Ikoi Cha is currently serving up their mochi donuts in two locations:

Until July 15, the first 50 customers at each location will receive one free mochi donut with a drink purchase. The donuts are $3.50 each and there are currently six flavours:

We went with the Purple Yam and Strawberry. The donuts are made fresh every day. The glaze on these are definitely on the sweeter side, so if you’re a fan of sweet treats this is it. The donut itself is nice and light and has a good mochi texture. However, they are super oily. I do find that this is common with all mochi donuts in Vancouver.

Worth a Try?

For the price and flavours, I would say this is not a bad spot for mochi donuts. I like that there are also so many bubble tea options as well as egg waffles. Their egg bubble waffles are actually quite good, and I really enjoyed them. If I had to pick between the two desserts however, I would go with the egg bubble waffle.
