Chibop – New Spot for Korean Food in Buranaby

Chibop is a brand new Korean restaurant in the Burnaby Brentwood area. Their main menu item is “cupbop” which is where you will get to choose a protein and pair it with steamed rice, japchae and a spring mix. In addition, they also have a variety of fried chicken items, traditional Korean items like bibimbap, jajangmyeon and gimbap. Check out my full review of Chibop below!

Chibop – Bibimbap, Gimbap, Jajangmyeon, Jjambbong and more!

There is definitely a shortage of good Korean restaurants in the Burnaby Brentwood area so I am very excited to see more options in the area. The gimbap pricing here is on the higher end. They start at $9.50 and goes up to $11.50. I will say that the filling is quite generous, and made fresh. Filling options for the gimbap include: house, cheese, vegan, samgyeopsal, kimchi, bulgogi and more! On our visit we tried:

Chibop - New Spot for Korean Food in Buranaby House Gimbap is your traditional version with ham, yellow pickled radish, carrot, cucumber, egg, crab stick and seasoned burdock

The House Gimbap is your traditional version with ham, yellow pickled radish, carrot, cucumber, egg, crab stick and seasoned burdock. This has go to be the prettiest gimbap I’ve seen. All the ingredients were rolled well together so it wasn’t falling apart. There was plenty of ingredients and everything was fresh and tasty.

Chibop - New Spot for Korean Food in Buranaby Samgyeopsal Bibimbap

In addition to the gimbap we also got Samgyeopsal Bibimbap ($16.90) which features BBQ pork belly with stir-fried assorted vegetables, steamed rice, fried egg, and bibimbap sauce on the side. This was another solid dish. There was plenty of vegetables including spinach, mushrooms, carrots, onions and spinach and nice thick chunks of pork belly.

Chibop - New Spot for Korean Food in Buranaby Honey Garlci wings

Our final dish of the evening was the Chicken Wings (8 pieces for $11). They are currently running a chicken wing promotion 8 pieces for $11 or 15 pieces for $20. The flavours include: honey garlic, soy garlic, volcano and yangnyeom (sweet and spicy). We got honey garlic and every piece was juicy and well fried.

Worth a Try?

Yes! This is such a neighbourhood gem. The service was really friendly and they were really on top of keeping our tea filled. The portions are generous and most importantly delicious!
