The Living Room – Brand New Menu

I went by on a Wednesday night and the atmosphere was thriving. The new menu has a wide variety of appetizers and mains to choose from at very reasonable prices. We tried the following:

Living Room Vancouver at Hotel Belmont MGallery braised meatballs with Rosé sauce, Grana Padano and a basil pesto

Our two starters of the night starts us off strong with bold flavours and hearty portions. The Braised Meatballs ($18.00) feature Rosé sauce, Grana Padano and a basil pesto. The meatballs were tender and juicy and the sauce was a little spicy. A classic done right.

Living Room Vancouver at Hotel Belmont MGallery Burrata with fresh focaccia and olive tapenade

Next, the Burrata ($22.00) features chilli olive tapenade, balsamic, basil and warm focaccia. The focaccia is rubbed with garlic so it tastes extra garlicky and it goes so well with the lush and smooth burrata. I’m normally not a fan of olive tapenade but it really works in this dish and I can’t really taste the olives.

Living Room Vancouver at Hotel Belmont MGallery Steak frites with skinny fries and hanger steak with peppercorn sauce

For our mains we went with Steak Frites ($29.00) and Spicy Rigatoni ($19.00). The Steak Frites features hanger steak, Bulleit Bourbon peppercorn sauce, roasted tomatoes and skinny fries. The steak was well cooked and the sauce was rich and creamy. I love skinny fries and these were perfectly crisp.

Living Room Vancouver at Hotel Belmont MGallery spicy rigatoni with garlic prawns

The Spicy Rigatoni features Arribiata rosé, focaccia bread crumb and Grana Padano. It’s a simple dish but done excellently. The pasta was a perfect al dente and the sauce was spicy and plentiful. The garlic prawns (add on for $7.00) were plump and juicy and went well with the pasta. However, I think the dish would still be excellent without prawns.

Worth a Try?

Yes! Overall the food was solid and the drinks were delicious. My favourite of the night was the Spicy Mango Marg with Jalapeno-infused Casamigos blanco tequila, Triple Sec, lime, mango juice and agave. The service was a tad slow as it was a very busy night, and the kitchen was very busy, but the staff always came by to check in on our experience. The newly revamped The Living Room Vancouver is a great spot for pre-drinks and a bite before a a night out on the town.
