Miku Restaurant

One of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned in life is that it’s not just a a birthday it’s a birth month. That’s right. A month worth of celebrations and drinking. For me, that month is February. Yes, I got shafted in that it’s a shorter month, but that just means I need to party harder to make up for it right?

To kick off my birthday month, we went to Miku for an early birthday lunch. Miku is not participating in Dine Out, but they do have a $38 Feature Zen menu from January 13 – February 12.

What I ate: Miku Zen (selection of four seasonal items and miso soup) – Aburi Tuna, Prawn Cocktail, Chicken Nanban, Kyoto Saikyo Miso Baked Sablefish

This is similar to their Miku Zen starter. I loved the sablefish! It was melt in the mouth tender and the wasabi provided a nice kick. The kale gomae was so tasty, I almost ordered another order!

Aburi Sushi (chef’s selection of aburi oshi sushi, roll and nigiri)

I love scallops and the scallop nigiri was so good! This is a good way to try all of Miku’s signature sushi items.

So good, it deserved a second shot.

What I ate: Green Apple Matcha Bavarois – matcha sponge, granny smith apple gelee, chocolate-jasmine tea cream, matcha white chocolate, mango passionfruit sorbet

I wish they had this dessert on their regular menu. The sorbet had a very intense mango flavour that I adored. The green tea was nice and bitter, which balanced out the tart apple gelee in the cake. Not as good as the Green Tea Opera but pretty darn close!

The Feature Zen was an incredible selection of food for the price. I highly recommend you make a reservation to check it out before it ends on February 12th!
