Yui Japanese Bistro

I was scrolling through my Instagram feed when I saw a picture of some amazing aburi oshi sushi. When I clicked on the geo tag I was so happy to see that it was located in Downtown!

I first went here for lunch with A, and it was so good I went back a couple days later with M for dinner! I think I might be obsessed.

What we ate: Aburi oshi salmon – sockeye salmon, jalapeno, housemade sauce ($10.25) and Aburi oshi ebi – shrimp, lime sauce and ume sauce ($10.25)

This tasted exactly like at Miku. This probably has to do with the fact that the chef used to work there! For this price it really cannot be beat! The sushi was so flavourful. We completely inhaled this!

I was really excited for the ebi because I love ume, but I was let down. It was still really good, but I preferred the salmon one.

What we ate: What we ate: Aburi oshi salmon – sockeye salmon, jalapeno, housemade sauce ($10.25) and Aburi oshi ebi – shrimp, lime sauce and ume sauce ($10.25) and Aburi oshi saba – mackerel, shiso, miso sauce ($10.25)

The aburi was so good I came back a couple days later! This time we also had the saba and it was so good! I love shiso and saba and this blew me away with how tasty it was!

This place is really a hidden gem! It’s located inside a business complex with no exterior facing windows. The service here is always very nice (at lunch they had a couple waitresses, but when I went for dinner it was just the sushi chefs). They top up your tea frequently and they are always looking for feedback.

I’ve already told everyone I know about this amazing place and I plan to take a lot more people here after. If you love Miku but don’t have deep pockets, this is the place to be!
