Chez Christophe is hands down one of my favourite patisseries in Burnaby. Every birthday (friends and family) I will purchase a cake here to celebrate. That being said I don’t ever remember dining in here, so I was glad that my first time doing so was with one of my oldest and closest friends who was visiting from Hong Kong.
What we ate: Sunny’s Matcha – Matcha namelaka, matcha chiffon, lemon yuzu mousse and white chocolate crunch ($5.90), Trio de Chocolat – Dark, milk and white chocolate mousse with a chocolate crumble ($5.90), Matcha Latte ($4.75) and Tea ($2.50)
I adore matcha so my choice was obviously Sunny’s Matcha and a Matcha latte. I really liked Sunny’s Matcha! It was very light tasting and the matcha didn’t overwhelm the yuzu mousse. If I had one complaint it would be that the white chocolate crunch was very soggy and not at all crunchy.
The Trio de Chocolat was pretty standard. I’m personally not a huge fan of mousse, and I think this dessert really needed something very crunchy to offset the smoothness, but that’s just my personal preference.
Look how cute the little matcha heart is!
Would I come back? Yes! I love this patisserie and it’s just a bonus that it’s so close to my house! All their desserts are beautiful and on par with what is being offered in Downtown!
