There is no shortage of brunch spots in Vancouver during the weekends, but there is a lack of restaurants serving brunch during the weekday. That’s about to change because OEB Breakfast Co. is opening their first location in Yaletown this Monday. There are plans to further expand into North Vancouver and Burnaby.
OEB Breakfast Co. was first established in 2009 in Calgary. They work with local suppliers to procure the freshest ingredients to provide the best quality dishes to their customers.
I dropped by before their official opening to sample several of their dishes. Check out their full menu here.
This dish was the perfect balance of richness and freshness. You can have this served with potatoes, but I opted for an arugula salad base for a lighter dish. The scallops ere perfectly seared and went well with the fattiness of the bacon lardons.
When this dish arrived at our table the unmistakable aroma of truffle was immediately present. There was a generous amount of black truffle in this dish which didn’t overwhelm all the other ingredients. The portion size was large, and I would definitely recommend sharing this with friends because it is a heavy and indulgent dish.
This is a really creative take on the classic Bagel and Lox. I will choose waffles over pancakes any day, and the lox worked really well with the tangy buttermilk waffles.
If you need a dish to impress, this is the one for you. As if the lobster in this crepe wasn’t enough, the dish is topped with a generous serving of French caviar. The filling was light and fluffy and the crêpe was thin enough to not overwhelm the delicate seafood flavours.
We ended off our potato and egg heavy meal with an even more indulgent dessert. Sandwiched between two fluffy, thick and eggy pieces of toast was the most delicious torched marshmallow and a generous smear of Nutella. This is a decadent dessert best shared between your favourite people.
The service and food at OEB Breakfast Co. was impeccable. It is a lovely addition to the Yaletown brunch scene and I foresee it being extremely busy at all times, but the wait will be worth it.
