Crave the Heights – Noodle Paradise

Noodle Paradise is the new reincarnation of Jane’s Restaurant. The new owners have kept the iconic breakfast menu, but have introduced authentic Thai-style dishes to their lunch and dinner menu. The chef and co-owner is from Chang Mai, and her passion for bringing a taste of her country to Burnaby is inspiring.

For Crave the Heights, Noodle Paradise is offering a $25 set menu as well as various specials.

Thai Green Iced Tea and Thai Iced Tea ($3.50 each)

The Thai Iced teas were a refreshing and sweet way to start my meal. There was a strong tea flavour in both, but I preferred the original flavour.

Thai Chicken Wings (8 pieces) – Thai-style chicken wings seasoned with chefs special sauce

I could smell these wings as they were being brought over. The wings were fried perfectly and the skin was ultra crispy. The dominant flavour profile was definitely the punchy and funky fish sauce with a touch of sweetness. It was a generous portion size, and each wing and drum was plump and juicy.

Chiang Mai Khao Soi – egg noodles in a delicious bend of curry, pickled green mustard, red onion and chicken, topped with crispy noodles

This is a signature dish at Noodle Paradise and it’s presented as such. The noodles are topped with a tower of crispy noodles and makes for a show stopping dish. The noodles were reminiscent of wonton noodles and the curry soup was on the thicker and sweeter side. The crispy noodle garnish added a nice textural contrast to the soft egg noodles.

Roti with Banana – Thai pancake topped with sliced bananas and chocolate sauce

The Thai Pancake is their newest additions to their dessert. The pancake was very crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The chocolate sauce tasted like chocolate syrup and the bananas were ripe and went well with the crispy pancake.

The service was friendly and the owner was happy to recommend his personal favourites on the menu. The set menu is enough to share between two and it was a good way to get an introduction to the menu at Noodle Paradise.
