Takenaka has some of the best Japanese food in Vancouver. I have written about them previously on their DIY Uni Temaki Kit, so today I will mostly let the pictures do the talking. The sashimi and sushi is always so fresh and delicious. For Family Day, I decided to treat my family to the Takenaka Deluxe Seafood Bowl.
The Takenaka Deluxe Seafood Bowl ($91.00) is for 4-6 people, and it is a bemouth. The tray is enormous and packed with perfectly seasoned Japanese rice.
On top there is generous slices of tuna and salmon sashimi, scallops, spot prawns, ikura, uni and Takenaka’s bara chirashi mix. This platter will definitely impress with its freshness, bright colours and delicious seafood.
My favourite way to eat this is to scoop a little rice onto a piece of seaweed and top with as much filling as you can! I wrap it up to make my own little handroll. My parents really like how fresh each piece of sashimi was. Their personal favourites were the scallop, snow crab and spot prawn.
Do note that if they don’t have uni available they will substitute with extra spot prawns! This is good to keep in mind because uni season is ending soon, so I think the future platters for the time being won’t have uni.
Overall I think that this bowl is worth it. Takenaka always has really great discounts and promotions on their social, so give them a follow on Instagram!
