Who doesn’t love fried chicken? I truly believe it is a universal love language because every culture seems to have their version of fried chicken. I am partial to Korean Fried Chicken, but I will never turn down any variation. In honour of National Fried Chicken Day, here is my list of the 5 Best Restaurants in Vancouver for Fried Chicken!
1. RIB & CHICKEN
When it comes to Korean Fried Chicken this is my top pick in all of Vancouver. Their portion size is extremely generous, the chicken is always juicy and flavourful and the batter has the perfect crunch. Rib & Chicken has so many varieties of chicken to choose from: Original, Sweet & Spicy, Sweet & Soy, Green Onion and more! The pricing is really good and I love the option of getting half and half.
My picks: Original and Sweet & Spicy
Location: Multiple locations across the Lower Mainland (1660 Renfrew St. Vancouver, BC V5K 4E1)
Special Notes: Order the honey mustard dipping sauce.
2. Nightingale
The Buttermilk Fried Chicken at Nightingale needs no introduction. It is a cult favourite and a must order every time. Large pieces of chicken are coated in spiced maple syrup and sumac and topped with pickles. The best part is that this is available on their Happy Hour menu for just $15.

Other recommended eats: Roasted cauliflower, Burrata pizza, Roasted mushroom pizza, and Grilled flatiron steak
Location: 1017 W. Hastings Street, Vancouver, BC V6E 0C4
3. bb.q Chicken
If you watch Korean dramas, you will have seen this logo. It seems like this is the only fried chicken spot in all of Korea. Well, the marketing works because the moment I saw that the Robson location was open, I was there to check it out. This particular location focuses on Lemon flavoured items, but on my visit I went with the Original and the Secret Sauce. Both the bone-in and boneless iterations were excellent, and the price for portion size cannot be beat.
Other recommended eats: Assorted cheese balls, Cheesling fries and Rosé Tteokbokki
Location: Multiple locations across the Lower Mainland (1517 Robson St. Vancouver, BC V6G 1C3)
4. Chewie’s Chicken & Biscuits
You had me at fresh buttermilk biscuits. Chewie’s Chicken & Biscuits is a proudly run family business serving up all sorts of delicious fried chicken and biscuit creations. Their buttery, soft and flakey biscuits are the perfect vehicle for delivering their beautiful buttermilk fried chicken into my mouth.

Other recommended eats: Moose Biscuit Sandwich, Chilichew Biscuit Sandwich, Apple Fritter, and Fried Chicken Benny
Location: 2822 W 4th Ave, Vancouver, BC V6K 1R2
5. Myst Asian Fusion Restaurant
When it comes to Taiwanese food, no one does it better than Myst. They have a very expansive and thorough menu, and I have yet to see them execute something poorly. Usually a big menu is an indicator that the restaurant has no focus, but the team at Myst really does deliver on all items. Their Taiwanese Peppery Chicken is always piping hot and fragrant with basil.
Other recommended eats: Wasabi chicken, Taiwanese sausage, Night Market Deep Fried Stinky Tofu, MYST Beef Noodle Soup and 3 Cup Chicken
Location: 6400 Kingsway #2, Burnaby, BC V5E 1C5
