Easy 20 Minute Dinner – Honey Soy Glazed Sablefish Recipe

It’s officially fresh fish season and Fresh Ideas Start Here is a great place to purchase fresh fish. Fresh Ideas Start Here is a purveyor of local and sustainable seafood since 2008. They source their seafood from their own boats as well as from local fishermen. They work hard to provide sustainable seafood and the majority of their seafood is wild-caught and harvested from sustainable land-based fish farms. Fresh Ideas Start Here has two locations – Kitsilano and South Burnaby. I am a regular customer as I really love their product and use it frequently in my cooking. To celebrate the fresh fish season, Fresh Ideas Start Here sent over some fresh sablefish for me to enjoy. I whipped up a few fillets for dinner with a very simple honey soy glaze. Check out my easy sablefish recipe below.

What is Sablefish?

Sablefish aka black cod has a very intense rich, buttery flavour. Even though it is such a flavourful fish, the texture is quite delicate. Sablefish has a high fat content which provides a rich flavour and velvety texture. It can be prepared in a variety of ways including, steamed, baked, roasted, or smoked.

Easy 20 Minute Dinner - Honey Soy Glazed Sablefish Recipe

The Honey Soy glaze in this recipe pairs well with a variety of fish and is very simple to make. In a small saucepan combine honey, soy sauce and balsamic vinegar until the mixture is slightly thickened. Brush the glaze on your fish. Broil for 8-10 minutes or until the juices run clear.

Serve with your favourite side dish. I had mine with a Spot Prawn Rose Pasta topped with uni.

The Spot Prawn Rose sauce is available frozen from Fresh Ideas Start Here and is part of their bi-annual freezer sale. I definitely bought a few to stock up on! Other favourites from the sale include frozen uni, uni pasta sauce, ikura, truffle spot prawn mac n cheese and Thai wild halibut curry.
