I am completely obsessed with Wild Flour Pizza Co. This small and unassuming spot is churning out some of the best pizza in Burnaby. They have so many unique flavour combinations as well as classics like Margherita and Funghi. The sourdough base is so delicious. I love the chewy crust and it’s such a perfect vehicle for all the yummy toppings.
Recently I went by to try their new limited flavour – Banh Mizza! The Banh Mizza ($23.00) is only available from November 16-30. It features white sauce, mozzarella, house-made Vietnamese sausage (nem nuong), pickled daikon and carrots, fresh mint and cilantro and fish sauce caramel. This is the perfect marriage of banh mi and pizza. Everything about this pizza is a flavour bomb. The nem nuong is so yummy, and I really enjoy the large chunks on the pizza. It pairs so well with the chewy sourdough crust.
In addition to the new flavour I had to get the Perfect Storm ($23.00). This pizza is a unique take on Hawaiian pizza. It features red sauce, mozzarella, pepperoni, pickled pineapples, jalapenos, crispy pork XO and dried oregano. The flavours in this pizza are so delicious. The pineapples are in huge chunks so there is a really nice bright and juicy burst of flavour to cut through the spiciness of the XO sauce.
Overall, I can’t recommend this spot enough. All the pizzas I’ve had here have been fantastic. You really can’t go wrong with the different options, and they even have a gluten friendly crust. If you’re feeling extremely decadent, I’d highly recommend splurging on one of their dips. The truffle & mushroom aioli and dill ranch are my favourites!
