Aroom Cafe Review – New Spot for Innovative Danishes on Oak Street

One of my favourite pastimes is discovering new cafes with my friends. One such discovery is the brand new Aroom Cafe on Oak Street. This cafe takes over the former spot of Usagi Sweets (RIP). It is a tiny space with room for 3 (very small) tables. The open kitchen takes up the majority of this little cafe and the pastry chef is hard at work churning out delicious danishes and cakes. Aroom Cafe is doing things to danishes that I’ve never seen before. Their signature danish all features a delightfully buttery and crisp danish crust and then they’re decorated with the fanciest mini desserts. In fact, these were so good, we went back in immediately to buy more after our first couple bites! Check out my full Aroom Cafe review below.

Aroom Cafe – Signature Danish Menu

The selling features at Aroom is their Signature Danish. They have such unique offerings like Basque Cheesecake Danish, Crème Brûlée Danish, Tiramisu Danish and Mont Blanc Danish. If fruit is more up your alley they have a selection of those danishes as well including a beautiful strawberry danish. On our visit we went with:

  • Mont Blanc Danish
  • Crème Brûlée Danish

The Mont Blanc Danish ($5.95) features a light crispy danish topped with chestnut cream and chestnut puree. As a huge Mont Blanc lover, the moment I saw this I had to get it. It was divine. The danish wasn’t too sweet, and the danish was warm. It was a fantastic treat and a good size for the price!

The Crème Brûlée Danish ($5.95) features an entire flan on top of a crispy danish that is torched fresh before serving. The flan was light and creamy with a smooth egg taste. This was another delicious flavour that was not too sweet.

Both danishes that we tried were honestly out of this world. We are definitely going back soon to check out their other flavours as well as getting round 2 of the above!

Worth a Try?

Yes! This cafe is very new and I can see that the two ladies working there were really stressed out. They are trying their best and they’re very friendly and helpful. However, if you’re in a rush, this cafe may not be for you. I hope they’ll be able to work out their timing kinks, because their danish is seriously delicious and I want everyone to try and support this new cafe!
