MONZO is the trendiest and hippest new spot for fast food in Downtown Vancouver. This vibrant and bright spot is inspired by the energy and creativity of Milan’s ‘Paninari’ youth movement. MONZO aims to deliver a one-of-a-kind experience where food, fashion and culture intersect. MONZO – a spin on the word “manzo” (Italian for ‘beef’) – is located on the ground floor of the Vancouver House on the corner of Granville and Pacific Streets. They are serving up simple and approachable fast food using the best Canadian beef and top quality ingredients. There is something for everyone here with a focus on excellent beef burgers. There ar e also a variety of non-burger staples and sides to choose from like a Milanese-style chicken sandwich, beef-fat fries, onion rings and more. Monzo Vancouver House – Beef Burgers, Fries and More!
To get a feel of the menu, we got the following:
- King Monzo ($16.00)
- Chicken Milano ($17.00)
- Onion Rings ($7.00)
The King Monzo features custom ground double cheeseburger with shredded iceberg lettuce, tomato, diced onions, sour pickles and signature burger sauce. The first thing I noticed was how soft and fluffy the bun was! Imagine a Big Mac but a thousand times better and tastier. Everything in this burger just works so well together. I love the crust on the beef patties and there’s nothing I love more than a saucy burger, and the King Monzo delivers! We got it as a Combo Americano (+$10.00) to add add beef fat fries and milkshake. There’s also an option to do a Combo Paninaro which is adding beef fat fries and beer (+$10.00) or house wine ($14.00).
The other burger we got was the Chicken Milano. This features a house made fried chicken cutlet sandwich, arugula, parmigiano, garlic aioli, sesame brioche bun. Again, the bun was just delightfully soft. The chicken was very crispy and thin, so if you’re a fan of schnitzel, you’ll like this one. I like the addition of arugula for freshness, but overall this was a miss for me. I would recommend sticking to their beef burgers.
The Onion Rings were delightful with the perfect breading to onion ratio. Pair it with some ketchup and you’re set! The Beef Fat Fries were absolutely delicious and the perfect skinny fry. I always love for the soggy ones though (anyone else!).
The Chocolate Milkshake is 16oz and features premium soft serve gelato blended with whole milk. This is definitely not for the faint of heart, or the lactose intolerant. It was rich, creamy and velvety smooth. This is the perfect treat to pair with your indulgent burger.
Worth a Try?
Yes! This is such a funky and great addition to the neighbourhood. MONZO is the 12th concept to join Kitchen Table Restaurants’ celebrated group of Italian restaurants across the city, which include Ask for Luigi, Carlino, Di Beppe, Bacaro and Pizzeria Farina, among others. With such an impressive lineup, you know that you can expect the tastiest and best quality at MONZO. MONZO will have their grand opening on Saturday, September 9. To celebrate the official opening day, MONZO will be giving away free cheeseburgers to the first 100 customers, beginning at 11am. You definitely don’t want to miss out!
