With the Thanksgiving season behind us, it’s time to look ahead for the spookiest season of the year. Halloween decorations are in full swing, and this year the City of Burnaby is doing Halloween in a big way! Check out the these fun activities that are happening in Burnaby to mark the scariest day of the year. Will you be checking out the 2023 Burnaby Halloween Festival?
1. Pumpkins After Dark – Swangard Stadium & Central Park
This one of a kind walk through experience features over 10,000+ hand-carved pumpkins! From October 6 – October 31, 2023 (Thurs-Sun after sunset), you can take a walk along a spooky pathway of pumpkin sculptures and displays with music and special effects. This family friendly activity is a must try Halloween experience!

Pumpkins After Dark Burnaby is located at Swangard Stadium and Central Park. The main entrance is located at the Southwest Entrance of the stadium. Public transportation is recommended. Please note there is limited parking at Swangard Stadium.

2. Haunted Village – Burnaby Village Museum
Explore the Burnaby Village Museum as stories come alive from their storybook pages and transformed into visual displays throughout the 10-acre open air site. From the Chinese legend of “The Monkey King” to the German fairy tale of “Snow White”, experience different cultural stories as they come to life. You can also hear the Indigenous stories of “How Raven Stole the Moon” and “The Wild Woman of the Woods”. Delight in spectacular performances by the Vancouver Circus School and dance the night away at the bandstand dance parties; there is fun for everyone! Wear your costumes and get into the Halloween spirit at Burnaby Village Museum’s Haunted Village.
Please note that the carousel will not be open at this time. The Haunted Village will run from October 19-22, 5-9pm and October 26-29, 5-9pm.

3. 2023 Burnaby Halloween Festival – Halloween on The Heights
Halloween on the Heights is the true folkloric event that is meant to be – safe, fun and a celebration of a good spooking! Growing up in the neighbourhood, trick or treating on the Heights is a treasured memory for me. I’m so glad it’s back for Halloween 2023 from 3:30 – 5:00pm. Children can visit participating neighbourhood merchants along Hastings Street to receive some yummy treats. Look out for Halloween on the Heights decals displayed on their windows.
Beware! Mystical characters will be roving along Hastings from 3 to 4:30 p.m., performing spine-tingling stunts and mind-boggling tricks.
4. 2023 Burnaby Halloween Festival – The Halloween Hunt at the City of Lougheed
For kids 12 years and under, visit the Guest Services desk at The City of Lougheed for a fun Halloween Boo-k to participate in a frightfully fun adventure. Once all the tricks are done in the book, return to Guest Services for a sticker and a special treat. This will be available until October 31, 2023.

5. 2023 Burnaby Halloween Festival – Central Spark
Celebrate the spooky season with a brand new signature event in Burnaby – Central Spark. This family friendly Halloween celebration will happen along Patterson Avenue and Central Park. The event starts at 6:30 pm and ends with a fireworks finale in Central Park at 8:15 pm. The event will finish at approximately 8:30 pm. It’s a fun free event that includes spooky outdoor maze, roving entertainment, carnival games, art activities, a photobooth, food trucks and a fireworks finale.
Expected food trucks include: Cravings Kettle Corn, Tornado Potato, Gordo’s Concession, Juicy Green Express, Mom’s Grilled Cheese, Yo Bones BBQ, Reel Mac & Cheese, Green Coast Coffee and Candy Curio.
