Moonlight Lounge – Lunar New Year Inspired Evening Lounge in Downtown Vancouver

New to the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver is their ‘Moonlight Lounge’. This gorgeous space is tucked inside Notch8 and is serving up dim sum, light bites and desserts, complemented by a menu of Lunar New Year inspired cocktails. The Moonlight Lounge is open Thursday to Saturday from 6:00 pm from now until February 24, 2024. Check out my full review of the Moonlight Lounge below!

Moonlight Lounge – Dim Sum & Light Bites

We got following to try off the menu:

Moonlight Lounge - Lunar New Year Inspired Evening Lounge in Downtown Vancouver Notch8 Restaurant at Fairmont Hotel Vancouver Chinatown BBQ X Notch8 Honey Glazed Pork Yorkie

The Chinatown BBQ X Notch8 Honey Glazed Pork Yorkie ($18.00) features bbq pork in a Yorkshire pudding with a five spice jus. The aroma when this dish came to the table was incredible. The yorkie was perfectly crisp on the outside and stuffed with savoury BBQ pork. This is a must get item for me!

Moonlight Lounge - Lunar New Year Inspired Evening Lounge in Downtown Vancouver Notch8 Restaurant at Fairmont Hotel Vancouver Hoisin BBQ Duck

The Hoisin BBQ Duck ($19.00) features cucumber, scallion pancake and apricot sauce. The duck was really flavourful and the cucumber adds some freshness to the rich dish.

Moonlight Lounge - Lunar New Year Inspired Evening Lounge in Downtown Vancouver Notch8 Restaurant at Fairmont Hotel Vancouver Pork sui mai with ikura

The Pork Siu Mai ($14.00) is topped with salmon roe and served with black vinegar. This was my first time having siu mai with ikura and it was interesting! The saltiness of the ikura actually works quite nicely with the savoury pork.

Moonlight Lounge - Lunar New Year Inspired Evening Lounge in Downtown Vancouver Notch8 Restaurant at Fairmont Hotel Vancouver Turnip Cake

The Turnip Cake ($18.00) is panfried with egg on the bottom which was really interesting. I have never seen this done before. The egg was like a crepe and doesn’t really add much to the dish.

The Egg Tart ($14.00) features foie gras and plum. This dish was a miss for me. The custard was too firm and the taste wasn’t really there for me. I would skip this one.

Moonlight Lounge – Desserts and Cocktails

To end on a sweet note we got:

The Sago Mango Mousse ($12.00) features tapioca pearls, mango mousse and a coconut glaze. This dessert has good mango flavour without being too sweet.

Moonlight Lounge - Lunar New Year Inspired Evening Lounge in Downtown Vancouver Notch8 Restaurant at Fairmont Hotel Vancouver Dragon Fruit & Lychee Macarons

The Dragon Fruit & Lychee Macarons ($12.00) features citrus macaron shell, dragon fruit cream and lychee gel. These were incredible. The lychee adds a touch of sweetness that cuts through the tanginess of this macaron.

For cocktails we got:

Worth a Try?

If you love unique and interesting cocktails in a fabulous space with great vibes, the Moonlight Lounge is definitely worth checking out. Reservations are now open. If cocktails aren’t really your thing, you can check out their Lunar New Year afternoon tea. The tea is in the same space as the lounge, so you can experience the incredible space while enjoying tea!

Throughout the Lunar New Year season, eight lucky diners will receive a ‘Golden Ticket’ in a red envelope, ranging from complimentary tea for two, to an overnight stay at Fairmont Hotel Vancouver and more. A special Lion Dance ceremony will be performed at the hotel on Friday, February 9. Make sure you follow them on Instagram for more details.
