The Raisin Scone & Almond Cookie Scones were an absolute highlight of the tea. The scones were warm, flakey and buttery and were a delight to eat. The Almond Cookie scone was a particular revelation, it reminds me a bit of Pineapple Buns in their look.

The sweets and savouries are presented on a lovely two tier lacquer tray. The savouries tray is cold, which I wasn’t expecting, especially for the dumpling and steamed bao items. Nonetheless this tray was enjoyable. The standout for me was the Typhoon Shelter Prawn Toast. The toast was filled with a thick layer of bouncy shrimp and the green chives added a nice fresh touch to the otherwise heavy tray.

The sweets tray was were Notch8 really shines. Every component of this tray was absolutely delectable. The two standouts was definitely the Egg Custard Tart and the White Rabbit lemon cake. The egg custard tart had such a lovely filling that was smooth and the crust was so flakey. The lemon cake had the most adorable white rabbit meringue decoration and the lemon cake was moist with the perfect crumb.

Worth a Try?

Yes! Is this an everyday thing? Probably not. But for a special, treat yourself occasion, this tea can’t be beat. I went to the 11 am sitting and the room was full of people enjoying this lovely tea set. It’s a really lovely time to treat your mom, sister, family to a really delicious afternoon tea. The staff did seem overwhelmed at times, and we did have to flag them down a few times. However, the ambiance and relaxed atmosphere made the lack of service must less noticeable. Overall, I had a great time and I would recommend you add this to your list of Lunar New Year activities.
