Per Se Social Corner is a Michelin Recommended restaurant in Downtown Vancouver. It’s a stunning restaurant on the corner of Homer and Smithe Street and just steps away from the Central Vancouver Public Library. Known for their fresh pastas, pizzas and Italian small plates, Per Se Social Corner just launched their new Happy Hour available Monday to Friday from 2:00 – 5:00 PM. Their Happy Hour selection is quite large and features a lot of Per Se’s most famous items. There’s also great prices on beer and wine as well as cocktails on tap and Sangria. Check out my full review of Per Se Social Corner’s Happy Hour below!
Per Se Social Corner – Happy Hour Menu (Starters)
The Happy Hour food menu prices range from $9-$39. For my visit, to start we went with:
- Francoforte
- Wagyu Beef Carpaccio
- Per Se Caesar
The Francoforte ($9.00) features a prime rib beef weiner, fermented sourdough, spicy dijon mustard & crispy shallots. This was incredible. The ‘bread’ is basically a sourdough pizza crust and the prime rib beef weiner was so juicy and flavourful. This is such a unique take on a hot dog and I highly recommend checking it out. And here I thought I already saw a very bougie hot dog.
I can never resist ordering carpaccio when I see it on the menu so we got an order of the Wagyu Beef Carpaccio ($19.00). The carpaccio features Snake River Farms beef with parmigiano infused evoo, smoked aioli, arugula, balsamico di modena and grilled oregano flatbread. The beef was fresh and the arugula adds a nice peppery balance to the richness of the dish.
The Per Se Caesar ($19.00) features romaine lettuce, house-made caesar aioli, smoked pine nuts and butter croutons. The star of this dish is the house-made dressing. It’s so creamy, cheesy and addicting.
Per Se Social Corner – Happy Hour Menu (Mains)
For our mains we went with:
- Carbonara Pizza
- Criminale Pizza
- The Burger
- Lobster and Crab Ravioli
No visit to Per Se Social Corner is complete without ordering their pizza. For Happy Hour they have almost all their pizzas at a special price of $29.00. We went with the Carbonara Pizza and the Criminale Pizza. The Carbonara Pizza was exactly like the pasta but in pizza form. It features Bianco sauce, guanciale riserva, local free-range eggs, fior di latte, pecorino romano. The eggs were a lovely orange and popped tableside to complete the pizza.
The Criminale Pizza features San Marzano tomato sauce, fior di latte, prosciutto cotto, soppressata picante, applewood smoked bacon, sliced red onions. There is no shortage of toppings on this pizza and the salty meats pair really well with the fresh red onions.
The star of the night by far was the famous “The Burger“. This burger features 8oz in-house handground organic Alberta beef, fresh brioche bun, melted fontina cheese, truffle aioli and syrah caramelized onions, crispy shallots.
The best part of this burger is because of the strict standards they have with grinding the beef in-house, the burger can be served medium! This makes the burger so juicy and unctuous. It’s like sinking your teeth into the softest bread and then a flavour explosion of beef, cheese and onions. This is probably the best burger I have ever had. The char flavour was on point.
The Lobster and Crab Ravioli features fresh stuffed raviolo, Spanish piquillo peppers, chipotle, coconut milk reduction. The ravioli is stuffed with lots of lobster and crab. The sauce was quite interesting, it reminds me a lot of a Thai curry.
Per Se Social Corner – Dessert
Of course we have to end the night on a sweet note. These aren’t on the Happy Hour menu but we went with White Chocolate Tiramisu ($16.00) and Twix Aranciata ($17.00). The White Chocolate Tiramisu is a light & creamy dessert infused with coffee liquor, white coffee crémeux. The dessert isn’t too sweet with a light coffee flavour. The Twix Aranciata features spiced caramel cream layered between smooth milk chocolate ganache infused with orange zest on a crunchy caramel wafer. It was like a very elevated Twix. The crunchy caramel wafer was the stand out for me.
Worth a Try?
Yes! I am a huge fan of Per Se Social Corner and I’m so glad they have a brand new Happy Hour menu! It’s a great way to try all of their greatest hits at a good price. It’s such a great spot to grab a couple drinks and share a few dishes before heading to a game, concert or dinner. I highly recommend you give them a try.
