OEB Yaletown is celebrating their 5 year anniversary from May 13th to 19th with a special menu of retro dishes. In addition to these delicious offerings, they will also be doing an exciting oyster collaboration with The Big Shucker on May 18th. OEB Yaletown is the chain’s first location in British Columbia. OEB uses seasonal, fresh ingredients sourced from local suppliers to provide the best dishes for its guests. In celebration of OEB Yaletown’s 5th anniversary, the restaurant will be bringing back some of its most beloved retro dishes, offering guests a chance to relive old favourites. The special menu includes:
- You Gotta Chick This Out Scramblette ($19.00) – Smoked chicken, semi-dried tomatoes, spinach, and fresh mozzarella
- Rabbit Mortadella Benny ($25.00) – Seared Rabbit Mortadella with Sicilian pistachios, brown butter hollandaise, and Dorado cheese
- Duck & Waffle ($28.00) – Confit duck leg, crispy Belgian waffle, spicy caramel, sunny-side egg with shaved fennel, and pickled red onion
I got a sneak peek of these retro dishes ahead of the launch so check out my full review (spoiler alert: definitely try them before they are gone!)
OEB Yaletown 5 Year Anniversary Dishes Review
First up is the You Gotta Chick This Out Scramblette. This really brings it back to the basics of brunch. A large omlette with plenty of chicken, tomatoes, spinach and mozzarella is such a comforting cheesy dish. There’s a mountain of potato wedges under the omlette that make for a really filling dish. I love the fruit sides at OEB and this one didn’t disappoint. There was kiwi, apple, dragonfruit, strawberry and orange.
Next, for a more adventurous eater we have the Rabbit Mortadella Benny. The benny is served on croissants which makes for an extra decadent brunch dish. The pistachios add a nice nuttiness to the dish and the eggs are just perfect. I love the orange yolks of OEB’s eggs! This dish is the only retro dish that will be available at OEB’s across the Lower Mainland.
The Duck and Waffle is the perfect combination of sweet and savoury. A perfectly crispy confit duck leg is perched on top of freshly made waffles. The sunny side up egg adds a lovely richness from the yolk that pairs perfectly with the spicy caramel sauce. The red onion adds a nice tartness to balance out all the other flavours on the dish.
Worth a Try?
Definitely! OEB is a go to spot for brunch and for good reason. Everything they do is always on point! The retro dishes are definitely interesting and I would definitely give the Rabbit Mortadella Benny or Duck and Waffle dishes a try as they’re pretty unique.
If you’re an oyster fan, take note! On May 18th, OEB Yaletown will be collaborating with The Big Shucker to offer freshly shucked oysters on the half shell with all the fixins at market price. Guests can enjoy this exclusive collaboration only on OEB Yaletown’s patio, starting at 9:30AM while quantities last. OEB Yaletown operates on Yelp waitlist, and will be accepting a limited number of weekday reservations.
