OEB Breakfast Co. – New and Revamped Items

OEB Breakfast Co. is one of the best spots to get brunch in the city. I had the chance to visit their North Vancouver location which just opened in January 2022. This is OEB Breakfast Co.’s third location and it features a 3,000 square foot restaurant with seating for 80 guests indoors as well as a cozy street side patio. The room features a large custom chalkboard, “Fill the Soul” feature wall, custom wallpaper, elegant millwork, and flowing metal pantry display that begins at the entry, wraps the bar working its way through into the kitchen. They recently revamped their menu to include some new dishes as well as make some classics even tastier. Check out my full review of OEB Breakfast Co. below!

One of the newest additions to the menu are their ‘Not So Tini Crostinis’. They are crostinis served on large sliced, rustic French rye bread. On my visit I had:

  • Calabrian ‘Nduja ($18.00)
  • Croque Madame ($23.00)

The Calabrian ‘Nduja features fermented spicy sausage spread, pine nuts, EVOO, poached eggs and fresh herbs. While the sausage spread was very flavourful, the dish overall was way too oily. Everything was drenched in oil, and the bread was practically disintegrating. I wanted to love this dish, but unfortunately it’s a pass for me.

The star of the show for me was the Croque Madame. This stunning dish features two sunny side eggs, rosemary ham, sharp cheddar, truffles, brown butter hollandaise, Spanish Manchego and black truffle carpaccio. Every component of this dish works so well together.

I am generally not a fan of hollandaise, but this one was very tasty! I think I found my new favourite OEB dish!

Also new on the menu are:

  • Baba Ganoush ($18.00) which features roasted eggplant, tahini, lemon, EVOO, poached eggs, pomegranate, micro watercress
  • Duck Confit ($23.00) which features confit duck leg, chestnut, poached eggs, fennel, pickled onions, pomegranate, spicy caramel, fresh herbs

OEB Breakfast Co. – Cocktails and Sides

To round off our meal we had a Tropical Mango Fruit Smoothie ($8.00) which features mango, pineapple and banana as well as their famous Mimosa Flight ($14.00). The four flavour tasting features prosecco with orange juice, pineapple juice, grapefruit juice and mango juice. A side I always have to get is their Deep Fried Perogies ($12.00). These are little pockets of potato goodness. Crisp on the outside and soft as a cloud on the inside. You need to try these!

Worth a Try?

Yes! I had such a lovely brunch here. The service as always is friendly and top notch. There is plenty of free parking at the North Vancouver location and it’s also very conveniently accessible by transit. You can’t go wrong with OEB for a good solid breakfast. Additionally, unlike their Brentwood and Yaletown counterparts, there wasn’t an insane wait for a table when I went.
