La Torre Bistro Burnaby – Hidden Gem Italian Restaurant in Burnaby

These days the words ‘hidden gem’ are definitely overused. But I think the term definitely applies to this spot in Burnaby. La Torre Bistro has only been opened for about half a year and they still have a 5 star rating review on Google. La Torre Bistro is tucked away in a residential area just behind the new Amazing Brentwood. It’s a very small and cozy spot, with a tight menu of homey Italian classics. Currently all their seating is outdoors so you can definitely enjoy the lovely weather the city has been having. I went by with a friend to try a few dishes. The menu is a simple one pager with fairly reasonable pricing. Nothing is over $21 on this menu and there’s a great selection of antipasti, pasta and roman flatbreads.

For our dinner we went with:

  • Salsiccia E Gorgonzola ($19.00) – sausage and gorgonzola cheese with cream sauce
  • Diavola Pinsa Romana ($20.00) – tomato base with spicy Italian salami and mozzarella cheese

All the fresh made pastas here include your chocie of Rigatoni, Tagliatelle or Spaghetti. We went with Rigatoni and the pasta was a perfect al dente. The pasta portion size is fair for $19 but I would probably recommend sharing a starter to be completely full. There was a nice muted gorgonzola cheese flavour in the sauce and the sausage was very flavourful.

The flatbread was crispy and the toppings were very generous. There was lots of fresh arugula, tomato and cheese on top of the flatbread. It was super flavourful and the thin crust held up surprisingly well to all the toppings.

Worth a Try?

Yes! This is such a cute spot in Burnaby for homey Italian food. Every table gets a basket of ‘focaccia’ bread which was an unexpected but lovely start. The pricing is good for the area and there are quite a number of delicious pasta and flatbread options to choose from. If you’re looking for an authentic al fresco Italian dining experience in Burnaby, La Torre Bistro is the place to be.
