Loam Bistro Brunch Review: North Vancouver’s Fresh Take on Brunch

I recently had the pleasure of trying Loam Bistro in North Vancouver’s Lower Lonsdale, and it’s safe to say that this cozy, new brunch spot has already stolen the heart of the neighbourhood. Located on Esplanade West, just a short walk from Lonsdale Quay and the SeaBus, Loam’s ambiance and menu come together to create a brunch experience that you need to try in North Vancouver. It was extremely busy on the weekend that I went so I highly recommend that you don’t plan anything too tightly afterwards. They seem to be short staffed, so dishes and service will be a bit delayed. However, their beverage program is quite good and a few of the dishes were quite unique (but I didn’t get the chance to try this time). Check out my full review of the Loam Bistro brunch below.

Loam Bistro Brunch Drinks Menu

We started off with drinks, and their coffee selection alone is worth a visit. My friend had the Pistachio Mocha made from beans sourced locally from House of Funk, and it was phenomenal—rich but perfectly balanced, with just the right hint of pistachio. I tried the Hojicha Latte and it was one of the best I had in the city. Loam Bistro uses matcha and hojicha straight from Japan and you can definitely taste the quality.

The Avocado ‘Croast,’ a creative twist on the usual avo-toast, which came with fresh, creamy avocado and a fantastic balance of textures. The guacamole packs so much flavour with lots of onion and lime!

The Lobster Scramble was simple with a lobster tail on the side and a silky smooth scramble on the side. The pressed focaccia was delightful and I love the crispness from the grill marks.

The Shakshuka was your typical brunch offering and nothing that I can’t make it at home. I would recommend trying something different or more unique.

We couldn’t resist ordering something sweet to share, so we tried the Pistachio French Toast. It was pure indulgence, with a fluffy texture and just the right amount of sweetness—perfectly satisfying without being overly rich. The pistachio cream and ice cream is all made in house. I love that the overall dish isn’t too sweet.

One of the things that struck me was Loam’s dedication to using local, fresh ingredients. Every dish felt like it was made with thought and care, and there’s an attention to detail here that you don’t find everywhere. Chef Rahul’s background in some of Vancouver’s top restaurants shines through; you can taste the global influences mixed with a love for local flavors.

Worth a Try?

Loam Bistro is a great addition to the Lower Lonsdale area and perfect for the neighbourhood. It is a small space, but they manage to make it airy and fresh with lots of lush greenery, hanging plants and a stunning 12-foot tree right in the center of the room. The branding of Loam Bistro is also on point with bright vibrant colours and abstract shapes. If you’re in the area Loam Bistro is definitely worth checking out. Pro tip, try to avoid the weekends if you’re in a rush because they’re a pretty new restaurant I think they’re still trying to get their footing with timing and providing good service.
