June – Appetizers and Small Plates
The menu at June leans West Coast with a French twist – think fresh, seasonal ingredients, playful flavour pairings, and artful plating. It’s the kind of place where the starters are just as memorable as the mains. We tried:
- Crab – Spiced madeleines ($28)
- Frog Legs – Espellette, BC honey, lime mignonette ($16)

The moment I saw the mini spiced madeleines from initial photos I knew I had to get this dish. The Crab dip is rich and creamy with a strong crab flavour. The creaminess of the dip is well balanced with lemon. The madeleines were perfect – slightly crisp on the outside and very moist on the inside. This is a must order dish for me.

Continuing on strong, the Frog Legs is another must order dish for me. The frog legs are nice and juicy and perfectly fried. The lime mignonette packs a super flavourful punch. It’s so good I wanted to drink it (I didn’t…). The sweet, sour and umami flavous all work in perfect harmony together. It reminds me a lot of favourite (now discontinued) chicken wings at H Tasting Lounge.
June – Mains and Desserts
For our mains we went with:
- Pasta for Rachel – Beurre d’Isigny, comté, pepper ($36)
- Mussels – Fino sherry, chili, petite frites ($30)
The Pasta for Rachel features a ravioli sheet topped with an ungodly amount of butter. Is it extremely rich and decadent? Yes. Is it 100% worth trying? Also yes. This is my first time having pasta like this and it was so creamy, rich and flavourful. The butter was really the star.

Beurre d’Isigny is yellow like buttercups and tastes faintly of hazelnuts. The nuttiness of the butter pairs beautifully with the comte.

The Mussels are equally delicious featuring large plump mussels in a rich creamy sauce. I highly recommend that you order a side of bread to soak up all that flavourful sauce.
For dessert we went with:
- Chocolate – Milk chocolate mousse, hazelnut ganache, Frangelico ($12)
- Soft Serve Du Jour ($12)

The Chocolate was a not too sweet ending for dessert. I’m normally not a fan of mousse desserts, but this dessert was so light and fluffy with a crunchy base that balances everything out.

The Soft Serve changes and on our visit it was a play on a cherry sundae. It was interesting with a lot of different flavours going on. The soft serve was really lovely and smooth, however if I were to choose I’d 100% choose the Chocolate.
Worth a Try?
This new restaurant on the block is worth all the hype that it is receiving. The food was stunning and the cocktails were very good. I really enjoyed every single dish and there were a few more that I’ve been eyeing as well. They are fully booked for regular dinner time spots until the first week of May, so definitely keep an eye out for when they open up reservations. June is special and stylish without trying too hard the food is thoughtful and delicious. The service was warm and attentive without being overbearing, and the vibe is effortlessly cool. If you’re looking for somewhere that hits all the right notes – ambiance, flavor, and that little spark of something new, June on Cambie is definitely worth checking out.
