If you’re searching for affordable and delicious food in Downtown Vancouver, I have just found a hidden gem. Nestled inside a bustling International Food Fair on Hornby Street, Ohashi Vancouver brings the warmth of a home-cooked Japanese meal right to the heart of the city. This cozy Japanese eatery is a must-visit for a quick and comforting meal. Ohashi stands out in Vancouver’s vibrant food scene by offering homey comfort Japanese dishes that are both budget-friendly and full of flavour. From savoury rice bowls to beautiful sushi platters, every dish feels like something straight out of a Japanese kitchen, without the high price tag.
Ohashi Vancouver – June Specials

Ohashi Vancouver is currently running some tasty limited-time promotions that make their already affordable menu even harder to resist.

Now through June 30, when you order a curry bowl for just $9.50, you’ll get a free topping: your choice of 2 pieces of crispy chicken karaage or 2 pieces of golden ebi fry. The curry bowl already comes loaded with a soft-boiled egg, sautéed zucchini, and house-made pickles, but you can also customize it with extra toppings for a small additional cost. It’s a hearty, flavorful meal that won’t break the bank.

Every Tuesday, you can score their popular teriyaki beef bowl for only $9.95, while supplies last. It’s a delicious mid-week pick-me-up that’s both budget-friendly and satisfying. The beef is plentiful and tender and the sauce is full of umami flavour with a touch of sweetness.

Another great deal is their $40 sushi platter. It’s a beautifully curated plate featuring a selection of their rolls: Spicy Salmon, Dynamite, California, Aburi Ebi and Aburi Salmon. Each piece is beautifully made and full of flavour. My favourites were definitely the aburi rolls with their creamy topping that goes so well with the fresh fish and vegetables.
Worth a Try?
In a city where lunch can easily cost $20 or more, Ohashi Vancouver offers generous portions at wallet-friendly prices. Most menu items fall between $10–$15, making it one of the best spots for cheap eats in Downtown Vancouver without compromising on taste or quality. Ohashi Vancouver is open Monday to Friday 11:00 AM – 4:30 PM and closed on weekends and holidays. With its authentic Japanese dishes, generous portions, and unbeatable value, this spot is definitely a hidden gem. Located steps away from major tourist attractions like the Vancouver Art Gallery, Ohashi is a must try for homey comfort Japanese food.
