If you’ve ever found yourself Googling “In-N-Out in Vancouver” or scrolling through Reddit threads about where to find a real smash burger in the city, the answer has been hiding in plain sight on Nelson Street, right downtown. Burger Crush is a small, unassuming burger shop with a short menu, a whole lot of flavour, and the kind of consistency you start craving once you’ve been once. It’s fast. It’s casual. But it’s done right. I came by during my lunch break on a weekday and they were super busy. That didn’t stop them from giving great service and slinging burgers quickly! The line moves fast and the food comes out hot and delicious. Check out my full review of Burger Crush below!

What Makes Burger Crush Special?
At a glance, Burger Crush’s menu feels like a throwback: cheeseburgers, fries, nuggets, milkshakes. But behind that simplicity is something more thoughtful. Patties are hand-pressed on the grill, sauces are made in-house, and even the vegan options feel like actual menu highlights and not afterthoughts. It’s a spot that knows exactly what it’s doing and does it really, really well. The vibe here is bright and colourful with plenty of seating.
Burger Crush Vancouver – Small Menu, Big Flavour
While their menu may be short and sweet it doesn’t skimp on big flavours. On my visit I got:
- Double Cheeseburger ($16.00) – Hand-pressed beef patty, all burgers come with, cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickle, onion and crush sauce
- Crush Fries ($10.00) – Topped with fried onions, cheese and Crush sauce
- Strawberry Milk Shake ($7.50)

The Double Cheeseburger is what most people come here for and with good reason. Two beef patties, smashed on a flat top until the edges go golden and crispy, then layered with melty American cheese, fresh lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions, and a zingy house-made Crush sauce. If you’re someone who’s been searching for that In-N-Out burger vibe in Vancouver, this is probably the closest and quite possibly better. Definitely add some pepperoncini ($2.00) for a nice spicy kick.

The Crush Fries come loaded with fried onions, gooey cheese, and house sauce, making them almost a full dish on their own. They hit that “animal-style fries but Canadian” sweet spot – cheesy, saucy, and just enough crunch to keep it all balanced. Ideal for sharing. Or not.
Thick, creamy, and not overly sweet, the strawberry milkshake is the kind of thing you didn’t know you missed until you taste it again. It’s simple, old-school, and goes absurdly well with fries.
Burger Crush Vancouver – Small Menu, Big Flavour (Vegan Offerings)
There’s no shortage of options for vegans and vegetarians here:
- Vegan Cheeseburger ($12.00) – house made vegan patty served with vegan cheese on a vegan bun with lettuce. tomato, pickle, onion and crush sauce
- Vegan Nuggets ($9.50) – house made tofu nuggets served with your choice of dipping sauce

The Vegan Cheeseburger features a house-made vegan patty, grilled to a golden sear, then stacked with vegan cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions, and their signature Crush sauce, all on a soft vegan bun. It’s a fully plant-based take on their classic cheeseburger, and it doesn’t feel like a compromise. The patty holds its texture well and is one of the better vegan patties I’ve had. It’s crispy on the outside, warm and tender inside. The vegan cheese melts surprisingly smoothly, and the bun has that slight toast and squish that completes the burger experience. If you’re looking for a great vegan burger in downtown Vancouver, this is one of the best under-the-radar finds.

Made in-house from tofu, the Vegan Nuggets are crisp on the outside, tender on the inside, and surprisingly flavourful. They’re served with your choice of dipping sauce (highly recommend the Crush Sauce), and they more than hold their own next to the burger. Whether you’re plant-based or just curious, they’re absolutely worth trying.

Worth a Try?
Yes! If you’re looking for a great burger spot in downtown Vancouver, Burger Crush easily earns a spot near the top. The burgers are consistent, the fries are memorable, and the vegan nuggets are unexpectedly excellent. Plus, if you’ve been chasing that In-N-Out style smash burger experience without driving to the States, this is the closest you’ll find and I would argue it’s even better.
