About % Arabica – A World-Famous Japanese Coffee Brand Now in Richmond, BC

The internationally loved % Arabica coffee brand, founded in Kyoto, Japan, has officially opened a beautiful new location inside CF Richmond Centre. Known for its minimalist style, exceptionally roasted beans, and signature espresso drinks, % Arabica has grown from its humble beginnings in Kyoto’s Higashiyama district to more than 200 stores across the globe. The new store at Richmond Centre is beautifully designed and looks extremely futuristic. The Richmond Centre store continues the brand’s tradition of clean design, handcrafted beverages, and high-quality ingredients.

I went during their media day and the baristas were incredible. Every single cup I saw being put up on the pass was beautifully poured and they were working extremely efficiently. So shout out to the team for managing the flow and ensuring that each cup was stunning.
What to Order at % Arabica Richmond Centre – Drink Reviews
On my visit I got:
- Kyoto Latte (Hot – 12oz) – $7.20
- Matcha Latte (Hot – 12oz) – $7.45
- Caffe Latte (Iced – 12oz) – $7.00
- Espresso (4oz) – $4.50
- Coffee Soft Cream (4oz) – $6.75

If you only try one drink at % Arabica Richmond Centre, make it the Kyoto Latte. This is one of the brand’s signature beverages and I can see why. This cup is made with single origin espresso and is lightly sweetened. It has a very creamy and smooth mouth feel and as a black coffee drinker it wasn’t overly sweet for me. This latte was perfectly balanced and I recommend it if you’re looking for an excellent latte in Richmond.

Their Matcha Latte is another solid pick. The matcha isn’t too bitter and has a nice earthy taste. Like the Kyoto Latte it’s nice and smooth and it’s a good intro to matcha for new matcha lovers. It might not be strong enough for seasoned matcha lovers. Pricing is fair and aligned with the rest of the city.

The surprising hit for me was the Coffee Soft Cream. The soft cream is so creamy and velvety and it has a nice coffee flavour. To up the ante, I highly recommend pouring a shot of their fresh espresso to make an extra indulgent affogato style treat.
Worth a Try?
I think it’s worth a try if you are in the area and the queue isn’t too long. It’s not worth queuing for, but if you’re a fan of the OG Japanese locations this new spot does come close. I actually prefer the drinks I got here over the % Arabica in Whistler. The service was relatively fast (there was a lot of people during media night) and I appreciate that every drink was beautifully done.
