What We Ordered at Bori Korean Restaurant North Vancouver – Appetizers

One thing I always appreciate about dining at an authentic Korean restaurant is how easy it is to share a meal, and Bori is no exception. To start we got:

  • Sotteok Sotteok 소떡소떡 ($9.99)
  • Chive Pancake 부추전 ($28.99)

If you’ve never had Sotteok Sotteok, think Korean street food in the best way possible. Skewers of chewy rice cakes and smoky sausage are coated in a sweet and savoury glaze that’s simple but incredibly addictive. It’s one of my favourite street foods in Seoul, and when I saw it on the menu I knew I had to order it.

The Chive Pancake is loaded with fresh chives and pieces of squid, with crispy golden edges and a soft, savoury centre. It’s not too thick so it’s a great way to start your meal. It’s a generous portion that’s perfect for sharing and would pair really well with an ice cold beer.

What We Ordered at Bori Korean Restaurant North Vancouver – Mains

It happened to be one of the hottest days of the summer when we visited, so ordering the Cold Noodle Combo felt like an easy decision. We paired it with a few of Bori’s signature mains so we could experience a little bit of everything on the menu.

  • Cold Noodle Combo ($23.99)
  • Hamburger Steak ($23.99)
  • LA Galbi ($39.99)

The Cold Noodle Combo includes your choice of spicy cold noodle or spicy bibim cold noodles or original cold noodle. I love a little spice, so I had to get the spicy cold noodles. The combo also comes with five freshly fried dumplings. The noodles were perfectly chewy with a spicy, tangy sauce that was incredibly refreshing. It had just enough heat without overpowering the other flavours, making it the perfect dish for a hot summer day.

If you’re searching for cold noodles in North Vancouver or trying naengmyeon for the first time, I’d absolutely recommend ordering this.

If you know, you know—naengmyeon and LA Galbi are one of Korea’s most iconic food pairings. The cold, refreshing noodles balance the rich, smoky sweetness of the grilled beef perfectly, so there was no way I wasn’t ordering both. The marinated short ribs had beautiful caramelization from the grill while staying tender and juicy inside. The sweet soy marinade was balanced and flavourful without being overly sweet, making it one of those dishes that’s hard to stop eating.

Korean hamburger steak with umami gravy, rice and potato salad at Bori Korean Restaurant

The Hamburger Steak is pure comfort food. A juicy beef patty is smothered in a rich umami gravy and served with rice and potato salad for a meal that feels simple, satisfying and nostalgic. While it’s not one of the dishes people immediately associate with Korean cuisine, it’s a popular menu item for a reason and makes for a hearty option if you’re after something filling.

Is Bori Korean Restaurant Worth Visiting?

Absolutely.

If you’re looking for authentic Korean food or an authentic Korean restaurant in North Vancouver, Bori Korean Restaurant is one of those North Vancouver restaurants that flies under the radar but absolutely deserves a visit. Bori offers exactly what you’d hope for: authentic flavours, generous portions and a menu full of comforting classics. While everything we ordered was enjoyable, the Cold Noodle Combo was the standout for me. I’d happily come back for that alone, especially during the warmer months. Pair it with the LA Galbi and Chive Pancake, and you’ve got an excellent meal to share.

Whether you’re already a fan of Korean cuisine or you’re looking for an authentic Korean restaurant in North Vancouver for the first time, Bori is one of those places that’s easy to recommend.
