I had a long overdue lunch date with my mum today! This little hole in the wall is ultra popular and busy! We showed up three minutes after opening and the restaurant was already full! We had to share a table with three other pairs.
Since my mum and I aren’t huge eaters, we only got three things to share, and it was more than enough!
What we ate: Salted Soya Bean Milk ($2.95)
My mum thought this was alright, she prefers the one from Shanghai Wonderful.
What we ate: Tan Tan Noodles ($6.95)
I’m always on the look out for some good Tan Tan Noodles and unfortunately this didn’t stack up for me. The best I’ve had in Vancouver is at Suhang, and I have yet to find a restaurant that makes it just as tasty.
This version was lacking in peanut taste and had no spice. The overall taste was bland.
What we ate: Xiao Long Bao ($6.95)
This was very good! The best of the three things we ordered. The skin was very thin and none of the dumpling leaked. The soup was very clear but flavourful. I really enjoyed these!
Would I come back? Probably not. The queue to eat here is insane and the food isn’t that great for me. I rather go to my standby (Shanghai Wonderful) and eat at a more leisurely pace. The service here is extremely harried and rushed, but the boss lady liked my mum so the service was pretty good for us.
