Brix and Mortar has been on my wish list for the longest time. I’ve only heard good things about their menu so I was so glad I finally got to check this off my list!
Unfortunately the courtyard space was closed that evening, but their interior dining space was just as beautiful.
What we ate: Bread with Hummus
The bread was standard, I personally like my bread warm, but the delicious hummus spread made up for the cold bread.
What we drank: Claret Punch – Sangria made to order with fresh juices and exotic spices ($9.00)
This was so good! I think I have been deceived my whole life on how strong sangria’s can be. This drink was potent!
What we ate: Fresh Steamed Mussels – White wine garlic broth, house bacon, crushed chilies, cherry tomato, fry bread ($16.00)
The mussels were on the smaller side, but very fresh. The best part was the fry bread. I’m not one for deep fried foods but this was amazing. Dipped in the broth or even on its own.
What we ate: Wild Salmon – Sweet soy brushed, miso butter grilled corn & potato hash($25.00)
I don’t eat fish often at home, so whenever I see salmon or sablefish on a menu I have to get it. This was amazing. The skin was crispy and the fish was cooked perfectly.
I love potatoes and corn so this hash was right up my alley. I ate this entire dish and I was absolutely stuffed.
What we ate: Brome Lake Duck Breast – Sorghum brushed, chorizo sausage & cornbread sauté, juniper pickled peaches ($28.00)
This was M’s dish and he seemed to really enjoy it! I tried a piece and the duck was so tender!
Would I come back? Yes! I absolutely loved the food here and the ambiance is very nice. It’s too bad the courtyard wasn’t open the day I went, but that just gives me an excuse to go back!
