[Beauty Review] LANEIGE White Dew Skin Refiner and Original Ampoule Essence

As someone who has dealt with acne for most of my teenage years and young adult life, I’ve tried all kinds of skincare to help reduce my acne scarring. I’ve found that this combo from Laneige has worked best for me.

It is marketed as the “White Dew” line in Asia, but has been renamed to “Bright Dew” for the North American market.

Laneige Bright Dew Emulsion ($46.00) and Laneige Bright Dew Original Essence ($72.00)

From the Laneige website:

This skin refiner and essence has a radiance-restoring, fluid-like texture that hydrates skin and helps brighten a dull, uneven complexion.

Formulated with the exclusive, patented Mela-vita Crusher™ technology, this brightening innovator helps reduce the appearance of dark spots resulting from overactive melanin production.

Key Ingredients:

  •  Mela-vita Crusher™: A potent blend of saururus chinensis (lizard’s tail extract), antioxidant-rich truffle yeast extract and Vitamin B5 visibly reduces melanin pigments that are the cause of dark spots and discolouration.
  • Phyto Sugar Water: Plant derived sugar water that helps with hydration regulation and retention.

There is a light floral scent, and the texture is slightly sticky when first applied, but absorbs into the skin almost immediately. I usually use two pumps to cover my entire face after I apply toner.

The essence is lighter in colour and retains its stickiness when applied on the face. It absorbs slightly slower, but by the time I wake up in the morning it has been fully absorbed into my skin.

I’ve been using this combo for several years now, and I have found it to have significantly improved the appearance of my skin tone and clarity.
