Honey Salt inside Parq Vancouver Hotel is a cozy little restaurant that is serving up classic comfort food. They have a very farm to table driven mentality with an emphasis on using local and reginal ingredients. They have just introduced their brand new Après Ski menu which features a cheese and chocolate fondue! In addition to these two delicious fondue variations there are a number of other nibbles to enjoy. You need to try out Honey Salt’s cheese and chocolate fondue before it’s off the menu!

Honey Salt Après Ski Menu – Cheese Fondue and Chocolate Fondue

The fondues on Honey Salt’s new Après Ski menu is definitely a highlight! There are two options:

  • Cheese Fondue ($30 per person) – Gruyere & Emmental cheese, white wine, garlic with roasted bread, fruits, crudité vegetables paired with Chateau Ste. Michelle Riesling
  • Dark Chocolate Fondue ($19.00) – shortbread cookies, house made marshmallows, fresh fruits

The cheese fondue is super rich and creamy and there was such a satisfying cheese pull! The bread was a bit dry, but once it was covered in cheese it didn’t matter. I really enjoyed the green apples, pickled onions and fennel sausage.

The dark chocolate fondue was such a delight. Because it was dark chocolate, it wasn’t too sweet at all – which I prefer. The fruits were plentiful and fresh and the housemade marshmallows were divine. For $19, this fondue is an absolute steal!

In addition to the fondues, there are three new dishes on the menu:

  • French Onion Soup ($13.00) – sweet onion, sourdough crouton, swiss & parmesan cheese blend
  • Poutine ($15.00) – curds & raclette cheese, crispy fries, smoked bacon, brown gravy
  • Ham & Cheese ($16.00) – air cured pork loin, toasted baguette, garlic, herbs & melted raclette cheese
French Onion Soup ($13.00) - sweet onion, sourdough crouton, swiss & parmesan cheese blend

The French Onion Soup was my least favourite of the day. It was extremely salty, and almost inedible. The salt overpowered any other flavour in the dish and I really couldn’t taste any of the cheese or onion flavours. I much prefer the one at Alouette Bistro.

The Poutine had nice crispy fries and the gravy was extremely flavourful. The combination of raclette cheese and curds made for an extra cheesy and delicious poutine.

The Ham & Cheese was a personal favourite of mine. The toasted baguette was light and airy. It was the perfect vehicle for the raclette cheese and thinly sliced pork loin. If there is one dish you need to try besides the fondue, this one is it!

Worth a Try?

Yes! The fondues are such a delicious and interactive way to eat with friends. Honey Salt does not skimp on their ingredients and the overall experience was fantastic. The Après Ski menu as a whole was very fun and I felt like I was in a Swiss chalet in the alps. With the lifted restrictions from last week, it was incredibly busy at Honey Salt over the weekend. The restaurant was packed, and as a result it was very difficult to flag down any service. However, that did not hamper my enjoyment of the fondues, and I highly recommend you check out the fondue at Honey Salt! This menu is available Saturday and Sunday from 3 pm until close.
