Suika Vancouver – Must Try Japanese Izakaya

Suika is a solid go to spot for me when it comes to picking a Japanese izakaya. I love chilling with my friends with some small plates and beer. Suika has a very casual and fun vibe with a large and varied food menu. I like that there is a lot of sashimi options as well. Suika is constantly changing up their menu with new and innovative dishes, so every experience here is new and exciting. I came by over the weekend to try some of their new dishes as well as revisit some old favourites.

Suika Vancouver – All Day Menu

To start we had 5 Kinds of Sashimi ($25.00). This dish comes with 3pieces each of tuna, salmon, yellowtail, scallop and chef’s choice.

The sashimi was fresh and beautifully presented. My personal favourites were the scallop and the yellowtail.

Next up was the Aburi Salmon Pressed Sushi ($13.80). This dish features seared pressed salmon sushi topped with unagi sauce, mayo and ikura on premium sushi rice with scallop and sushi ginger in sweet soy sauce. Each bite was a flavour bomb! It might be too saucy for some, but I love sauce so this was just perfect for me. On this particular visit, the rice was on the mushier side.
