The Lobby Lounge & RawBar at Fairmont Pacific Rim recently launched their brand new signature Omakase sushi as well as a new nigiri program with Chef Masayoshi at the helm. As a foremost award-winning sushi chef, Masayoshi brings his passion for Japanese cuisine and exceptional craft to elevate The RawBar’s culinary offerings for both lunch and dinner service. Masayoshi himself will be behind the bar Monday through Thursday for the lunch service! I had the pleasure of trying out the new Omakase Sushi lunch experience at the Lobby Lounge last week, so check out my full review below.
The Lobby Lounge – Omakase Sushi Lunch Experience
The Omakase Lunch Experience is $95 per person, and the dinner experience is $125 per person with the addition of a bottle of sake to cleanse your palette during your meal. The omakase experience is located at the sushi counter and it’s an intimate experience that feels very personalized. The experience includes tasting different kinds of sustainable fish and watching first-hand the processes that go into each and every bite. The menu will change depending on what tickles chef’s fancy, so you may not get exactly what I got, but rest assured it will all be delicious.
The lunch experience includes – two appetizers, eight piece nigiri and a dessert.
To start we had a clear fish broth and sea bream with a matcha sauce to open our palettes.
Following that we had a small sampling of fresh sashimi which included a delightful torched King Salmon.
Next up was a selection of nigiri featuring the fresh fish of the day. Soy sauce is not needed as each piece is perfectly dressed with the right amount of accompaniments. On my visit some of the nigiri we enjoyed included Hokkaido uni, scallop, red eye tuna, hamachi and madai.
To round off the meal we had the most lush panna cotta with seasonal fruit.
Overall I had an absolutely lovely time. The service as always is top notch and Chef made sure to keep an eye on our meal to ensure that the progression of our meal was as smooth and timely as possible. This experience only allows for six seats per reservation time slot, so be sure to make a reservation. Make it a true treat yourself experience and book a staycation at The Fairmont Pacific Rim!
