For my mum’s birthday this year, I decided to treat her to an elegant and luxurious stay at the Executive Hotel Le Soleil in Downtown Vancouver. The Executive Hotel Le Soleil is one of Canada’s top 25 most luxurious hotels and from the moment you step into the lobby you can experience the opulence of French of decadence. There is gold and chandeliers everywhere and you truly feel like royalty. Check out my full review of the Executive Hotel Le Soleil below.

Executive Hotel Le Soleil – Executive One Bedroom Suite
Executive Hotel Le Soleil Executive One Bedroom Suite – Views, Amenities and more!
The hotel has all the toiletries you’ll need. If you need anything, the concierge is always ready to help. I love the towels – they are some of the fluffiest I have ever experienced. The bathroom has both a tub and a shower so you can have a nice long soak after a long day.
The room features two TVs – 42″ LCD television and 55” Television (one in the bedroom and one in the living room). It’s perfect to kick back and relax and watch a movie after a long night exploring. I really like that the bedroom is separate from the living room. The desk and sofa were great for getting some work done while my guest got to enjoy the TV in the bedroom.
There is a great selection of Rishi Tea to choose from as well as a Keurig. It’s great for those early mornings or settling in after a long night with a hot cuppa tea.
Alouette Bistro
Alouette Bistro is a charming French bistro located inside the hotel. They are serving up classic French dishes with West Coast twists. There is a lovely bird and floral motif throughout the restaurant (in a nod to their name!). This bistro is perfect for date night, a girls night out or a drink at the bar.
A must order dish at Alouette is their table side Beef Tartare ($24.00). The Beef Tartare is made tableside and features cornichons, shallots, dijonaise, egg, pecorino and bread. The beef is finely minced and the dijonaise did not overwhelm the dish.
Another great starter is the French Onion Soup ($15.00). The soup is full of caramelized onions and topped with gruyere. It was extremely flavourful and decadent.
For our main we went with the Bouillabaisse ($49.00). The Bouillabaisse features scallops, shrimp, mussels, clams, crab, halibut, fennel, celeriac, tomato, saffron, fresh herbs, rouille, sourdough. The perfectly seared scallops were a definite highlight for me. The dish is pretty salty for me but still very flavourful! However, I highly recommend ordering more bread to soak up all that lovely broth.
Executive Hotel Le Soleil – In Room Dining
What better way to end a magical escape but concluding our stay with a lovely French breakfast? conclude a fantastic stay, why not order some delicious room service breakfast? Breakfast is available daily from 8 am until 10 am.
For our breakfast we had a lovely Breakfast Cassoulet ($24.00) which features poached eggs, lardon, sausage, white beans, summer squash, fennel, carrots, celeriac, tomato, toast.
We also had an excellent French Toast with fresh whipped cream and fruits. Since it was an unseasonably warm Fall we were able to enjoy our breakfast on the balcony. To pair with our delicious meal we had two steam hot cups of Café Umbria signature roast coffee and sparkling mimosas. Not a bad way to start the week!
Overall Thoughts
There is no other hotel in Vancouver that drips in such decadent European luxury. From the moment of checking in to checking out, the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The rooms are well appointed and well stocked with all the necessary amenities. My mum and I had such a lovely time, and it was a great bonding experience for us!
