Seaside Provisions – Elevated Seafood Offerings in North Vancouver

Seaside Provisions located inside the Seaside Hotel, is a beautiful modern restaurant with a wide variety of seafood dishes. This iconic North Vancouver restaurant is conveniently located in The Shipyards. All the dishes feature local and regional ingredients as much as possible. The restaurant is easily accessible by transit but there is also plenty of parking available on site as well. The room was beautifully appointed with natural wood throughout. There is also a gorgeous magnificent raw bar near the back of the restaurant. In addition, they also have a small outdoor patio for all this lovely summer weather we are having. Whether you are here for happy hour or a full dinner, you can’t go wrong with Seaside Provisions.

Seaside Provisions – Raw Bar

To start we had a bevy of delicious bites from the raw bar:

  • Diamonds and Pearls
  • Salmon Oshi
  • Tuna Tataki

If you want to start your dinner on an impressive note you need to get the Diamonds and Pearls ($9.00 each). These lovely beauties feature a premium oyster topped with a bump of caviar. The brininess of the caviar pairs so well with the sweetness of the oyster. Also from the raw bar we had their Salmon Oshi ($19.00). It features salmon, cucumber, jalapeno, apple chutney and unagi sauce. I found this roll to be a bit to heavy handed with the rice, but not a bad rendition over all. The Tuna Tataki ($24.00) features edamame, albacore tuna, ponzu crispy garlic, scallion and daikon salad.

Seaside Provisions – Appetizers

Following the raw dishes we had some delicious warm appetizers:

  • Lobster Rolls
  • Spicy Tuna Tostadas
  • Prawn-tatas Bravas
  • Smoked Salmon Flatbread

The Lobster Rolls ($15.00) feature Atlantic lobster and shrimp inside a soft and toasted brioche roll. These were delightful. I could have eaten the whole plate on my own! The dressing was light so it didn’t overwhelm the lobster and shrimp and the brioche was the perfect soft buttery roll for this dish.

Two of the more unique items on the menu are – Spicy Tuna Tostadas ($16.00) and Prawn-tatas Bravas ($20.00). The Spicy Tuna Tostadas feature fresh tuna in a spicy sauce on top of a crisp nori tempura, seaweed ‘sand’ and green onion. The nori tempura was very crunchy and a great vehicle of the spicy tuna. The Prawn-tatas Bravas is a play on a classic Spanish dish ‘potatoes bravas’ and this version features chorizo, tempura prawns, scallion, fiery tomato sauce and a truffle aioli. There’s a lot of flavours going on in this dish, but the heavy potato is a great neutral vehicle to marry the flavours together in a really tasty way.

To round off our appetizers we tried the Smoked Salmon Flatbread ($19.00). This flatbread features herb whipped mascarpone, capers, lemon, arugula, shallots and everything spice. This was a solid flatbread and a great item to have while enjoying a glass of wine with your friends. The flatbread really held up well to all the toppings and all the components were fresh and worked well together.

Seaside Provisions – Mains

  • Lobster Gnocchi
  • Grilled Bulgogi Ribs
  • Mussels
  • Scallop Risotto
  • Halibut

We had a bevy of mains and the standouts for me were the Grilled Bulgogi Ribs ($29.00), Mussels ($32.00) and Scallop Risotto ($36.00). The Grilled Bulgogi Ribs feature boneless beef ribs, ginger-soy marinade, pea shoot, radish, and lime. The ribs were so tender and flavourful! The Mussels feature white wine, garlic, tomato, cream, chorizo and grilled sourdough. The mussels were fresh and plump and the broth it comes in is so flavourful. The grilled sourdough was perfect for soaking up all that flavour. The Scallops Risotto features wild mushroom, crispy pork belly, ginger scallop mousse, trout caviar and beurre blanc. It’s a very decadent dish, so I recommend ordering it more as a side to supplement another main course to share.

Worth a Try?

Yes! I haven’t been back to Seaside Provisions since COVID started, and I am very happy with their expanded menu. There are some pretty creative dishes on the menu, and all the seafood that I tried was fresh, delicious and expertly prepared. I would highly recommend you check out this spot when you’re in North Vancouver!

They also serve brunch on the weekends and I spotted a Brunch Tower on their menu! It’s a 3 tier brunch tower with everything you need for brunch including a surf and turf benny! That’s definitely bookmarked for my future brunch excursions.
