Zoomak Korean Tavern – Best Korean Restaurant in Vancouver

If there is one restaurant I will recommend time and again, it is Zoomak. They were recently awarded first place at VanMag’s Restaurant Awards for best Korean! From their traditional dishes, to their more modern takes, there is something that will satisfy every craving on the menu. Gone is their $20 lunch special, but in its place are new elevated lunch sets. They’ve also introduced several new lunch menu items that all sound absolutely mouthwatering. Check out my full review of the lunch menu at Zoomak below!

Zoomak – Han Sang Lunch Special

The “Han Sang” Lunch Special still features a stunning 12 plate tasting tray, but the main options are now:

  • Pork Cheek ($25.00)
  • Unagi ($30.00)
  • Short Rib ($35.00)

This extremely popular lunch special first come, first serve for walk-ins with a few reservation spots available each day. We went with the Short Rib version. The short ribs were very flavourful and tender. From the sides my favoruites were the kimchi pancake, scallop and eggplant.

Zoomak – Lunch Menu (Jeon Sim)

In addition to their Han Sang Lunch special, they also have a variety of main dishes to choose from. For our visit we tried:

  • Jang Trio Rice Bowl
  • Jjampong
Zoomak - Lunch Menu (Jeon Sim) Jang Trio Rice Bowl features soy cured abalone, prawn, scallop, fennel muchim, and bokchoy muchim.

The Jang Trio Rice Bowl ($25.00) features soy cured abalone, prawn, scallop, fennel muchim, and bokchoy muchim.

The Jjampong ($19.00) features noodles in a spicy seafood broth, and it is my favourite Jjampong in the world. The flavour of this Jjampong cannot be beat. It’s got a great smokey flavour and the bowl is packed with plenty of seafood. It is a dish you need to try at least once. However, if you’re not a fan of spicy food they are now serving up a white version!

One dish that I didn’t have the opportunity to try this time was the Yook Hoe Bibimbap. This dish features spinach, gosari, zucchini, shiitake, carrot, konbu, beef tartare, and quail egg yolk. From the photos it looks very refreshing, and on a warmer day I’ll definitely check out this dish.

Worth a Try?

Zoomak has always been a favourite of mine. Their new expanded menus are worth checking out. In addition to their new lunch menu, they also have a late night menu featuring the Anju Han Sang ($38.00) featuring 6 Kinds of Chef’s Choice dishes seems like something I would love to try soon!
