A.Bento Lunch Bento Boxes – Great To-Go Option on Broadway

A.Bento is a small and cozy restaurant that specializes in Taiwanese cuisine. The interior is simple but modern, with wooden tables and chairs and a few decorations that give it a warm and inviting atmosphere. A.Bento is located on the Broadway corridor, but it is still easily accessible. Their menu specializes in Taiwanese dishes with some twists, and they’re constantly updating and changing items. From traditional street food snacks to hearty rice and noodle bowls, there is something for everyone. They have lunch and dinner service, and they recently launched new packaging for their to-go bentos. Check out my review of the A.Bento lunch bento boxes below!

A.Bento Lunch Box To-Go

A.Bento’s new lunch bento box design reminds me of the lunch boxes school kids use in Taiwan. The containers are made with thick paper material and are held together with a branded paper band. The bento boxes come with a main dish, rice and two daily side dishes. Two latest additions to their lunch menu are:

  • Braised Pork Hock on Rice 控肉飯便當 ($17.95)
  • Black Pepper Beef Brisket on Rice 黑胡椒牛腩便當 ($17.95)

The Black Pepper Beef Brisket comes with two boxes (the rice and main are separated). I like that they did this because it is a really saucy dish. For my side dishes I had some vegetables and a century egg omelette. The brisket was tender and there were plenty of large pieces. There was a strong black pepper flavour, but it didn’t overwhelm the dish.

The Braised Pork Hock is a slightly less saucy dish, so it came in one box. The box is a bit bigger than the brisket to accommodate both the main dish, rice and side dishes. The pork hock was braised well and the flavours really soaked into the pork. The skin was a good gelatinous texture and overall it was a satisfying dish.

Worth a Try?

Yes! I’ve always been a fan of A.Bento and it is a go-to spot for me. While I enjoyed the new additions, I will be sticking to my tried and true Taiwanese Crispy Chicken Nuggets On Rice next time. Another personal favourite and must try item is the Clear Broth Beef Noodle, and this is coming from someone who doesn’t even like beef noodles!
