This is the hidden penthouse lounge you didn’t know Richmond had. Alaïa is a monochromatic penthouse lounge and event space inside the Versante Hotel in Richmond. When you walk into this 12th floor lounge, you will see sweeping views, striking Instagram worthy décor, a ten-foot LED screen and a panoramic balcony. Alaia Richmond – Alaïa Caviar Platter
This lounge is all about decadence, and what better way than to indulge in the Alaia Caviar Platter? This platter is the ultimate caviar experience. It features:
- Royal Caviar Club Tasting (5g each) – Superior Sturgeon Caviar, Royal Cristal Caviar, Premium Baerii Caviar
- Iberico Oysters (1/2 dozen)
- Prawn Cocktail with Marie Rose Sauce
- Ahi Tuna Tartare
- Truffle Lobster Roll Salad
- Sweet Caviar Pie
The platter is magnificent and a real show stopper when it comes to the table. It is massive and beautifully decorated with various seaweeds and flowers.
The Royal Caviar Club Tasting was absolutely divine. It was so much fun to do a caviar bump, but they also pair wonderfully with the housemade crisps. Each caviar pearl was so briny but fresh with just a hint of sweetness. I am a huge fan of caviar and this tasting was unlike any I have ever tried. It was excellent.
The Iberico Oysters were fresh and plump and the sliver of Iberico ham was just the perfect touch of saltiness.
The Ahi Tuna Tartare features ikura, wasabi soy dressing, avocado, kaiso seaweed and potato chips. The tuna has a great texture and a lovely red colour. We ate this as is, and preferred nibbling on the chips on the side and pairing it with the caviar. The Truffle Lobster Roll Salad features dill mascarpone and sweet brioche pull apart buns. The salad was light and I didn’t really taste the truffle, however the lobster meat was sweet and succulent.
The Sweet Caviar Pie features Royal Cristal Caviar, short crust, vanilla lemon custard, crystallized white chocolate and gold leaf. On our visit the gold leaf was replaced with flowers, but the dish was still very pretty nonetheless. The buttery crust was lovely and went really well with the lemon custard. The caviar pairs surprisingly well in this dessert!
Worth a Try?
Overall this was a very relaxing and luxurious experience. The seats are plush and very enjoyable to relax in. There are some spectacular views of planes from the lounge and I would recommend this a spot for a special occasion or a treat yourself moment.
