Summer is here and one of the best things about Summer is patio dining! Look no further than The Beach House Restaurant in West Vancouver for some stunning views. The Beach House Restaurant is located inside a beautiful heritage building with a lovely open patio that boasts incredible panoramic views of the Burrard Inlet. Their food and drink menu takes inspiration from the West Coast and they have a rotating seafood-centric menu. In addition, they have a new extensive martini menu and a reinvigorated wine list. It is such a lovely date night spot, especially with two patio seating locations (one right by the beach and water and another in an enclosed patio space. This spot is a can’t miss West Vancouver gem!
The Beach House Restaurant – Appetizers and Cocktails
For our appetizers and first round of cocktails we went with the following:
With the gorgeous sunny weather in Vancouver in full swing, we had to start with some decidedly tropical cocktails. The Hawaiian Mai Tai features Plantation pineapple rum, dry curacao, macadamia, fresh lime juice and passion fruit foam. It was light and refreshing and the foam adds a nice creamy touch. The Passion Fruit Margarita features Don Julio reposado, passion fruit, ginger, chili and fresh lime juice. I adore this cocktail. It was fruity, spicy and just a touch salty. It was such a flavour explosion in my mouth, but such an easy drink.
The Yuzu Calamari features yuzu aioli, togarashi, fresh cucumber and jalapeño. The calamari was in long strips and had a lovely texture with a crispy exterior. The yuzu aioli was creamy and smooth with just the perfect amount of citrus.
Being so close to the ocean, we definitely couldn’t resist getting some fresh seafood. The 1/2 dozen Merasheen Bay Oysters are served icy cold, on the half shell with mignonette, fresh horseradish & lemon. These oysters were perfectly shucked and sweet.
The special of the moment is a Lobster Roll and I personally can never resist a good lobster roll. This one has large meaty pieces of lobster and absolutely no filler (the best kind of lobster roll). The bread was soft and fluffy with a nice buttery toast on the outside.
The Beach House Restaurant – Mains and Dessert
After a delectable round of appetizers and drinks we moved on to our mains. On Mondays, all pastas are $3 off so we couldn’t resist trying a pasta dish. We went with:
Unfortunately, our first choice of Truffle Mezzaluna was sold out. So we went with the other pasta option of the night which was the Prawn and Scallop Spaghettini. This dish features basil & arugula pesto, confit garlic butter, oven dried tomatoes and parmesan. The scallops were perfectly cooked and the prawns were juicy and succulent. The pesto sauce was slightly peppery from the arugula and it compliments the tomatoes and seafood really nicely. A solid pasta dish!
The Steak Frites features a grilled 6oz sirloin steak, confit butter and garlic bread. The steak was a perfect medium rare as requested and the confit butter was divine. Skinny fries are the superior fry, so I was very happy with this dish!
To end a very delicious meal we each had a glass of Caves d’Esclans Whispering Angel Rosé with a lush Warm Chocolate Cake. The sun had started to dip behind the horizon and it was so lovely to bask in the warmth and enjoy a glass of wine while listening to the sound of the waves.
Worth a Try?
Absolutely. The space is incredible, and you really can’t get any closer to dining by the ocean than this. The food, drinks and ambiance was absolutely perfect. Everyone was so friendly and ready with suggestions. When the sun got too harsh, we were offered the opportunity to move seats. Overall this is a great place to enjoy some cocktails and bites with friends, or for a romantic date night.
