The Vancouver Ice Cream Festival is in full swing until the end of July and Glenburn Soda Fountain in Burnaby has two new exciting options to choose from. From July 9 – 31 they have two delicious flavours: The Millennial and The Gen X. I went by earlier this week with my mum and sister to try these two creations. These two treats were the perfect summer treat for this hot weather. The sundaes decadent, sweet and indulgent. The nostalgic vibes at Glenburn Soda Fountain really take you back. From the kitschy décor to the bar stool seating at the counter. This spot gets super busy and has limited seating. My favourite thing to do is grab my treat and go for a walk along the Burnaby Heights area or a quick walk over to Confederation Park.
Glenburn Soda Fountain – The Millennial and The Gen X
- The Millennial – Coffee chip ice cream topped with salted caramel, honeycomb toffee and buttermilk cookie crunch topped with caramel whipped cream.
- The Gen X – Cookies and cream ice cream with hot fudge, chocolate covered crispy rice cereal and neon candy pieces throughout topped with whipped cream
The ice cream at Glenburn Soda Fountain is top tier. It’s old school ice cream, with a thick consistency that is packed full of flavour. The Coffee Chip ice cream in The Millennial had me up for hours but it was so worth it. The creaminess of the ice cream went so well with the crunch of the honeycomb toffee and buttermilk cookie crunch. All of that deliciousness is topped with the most lush fresh whipped cream.
My sister’s favourite was the Gen X because she’s a cookies and cream ice cream fiend. It got two thumbs up from her and the overall look of the sundae was so vibrant from the neon candy pieces. I can definitely see this one being a hit with kids!
Worth a Try?
Yes! Whether you are at Glenburn Soda Fountain for the Vancouver Ice Cream Festival or just for an old school treat, this spot does not disappoint. All the treats here are made with such care and don’t lack for toppings or decadence. Both of sundae entries for the Vancouver Ice Cream Festival were a 11/10. I highly recommend you check them out before the end of July!
