Torafuku is a contemporary Pan Asian restaurant located in Vancouver. I have come here often for dinner, but not as much for lunch. I decided to come back last week to try some of their new lunch items and I was so impressed. They are a Michelin Guide recommended restaurant and deservedly so. Their lunch menu mainly focuses on rice bowls and noodles as well as a smattering of their more famous appetizers and shareable plates. Check out my full review of the Torafuku lunch menu below!
Torafuku – Starters and Drinks
To start off our meal we got a few shareable dishes:
- Finger Lickin’ Chicken ($16.00)
- I love Dumpling ($10.00)
- Brussel sprout salad ($18.00)
The Finger Lickin’ Chicken features brined marinated crispy chicken, mixed herbs, thai chili, shallots, 7 spice mayo. The chicken pieces are large and juicy. The exterior is really crispy and flavourful. I really like this!
The I Love Dumpling features mixed herbs, croutons, house made chili vinaigrette. The dumplings were quite standard but the house made chili vinaigrette really adds a punch.
The Brussel Sprout Salad features cauliflower, broccoli, brussels sprout, balsamic vinaigrette, chickpea, crispy quinoa. If all salads tasted like this I would eat salads more often! The vegetables are so flavourful and I really like how the vegetables retain their crunch.
As it was lunch, we went with a few mocktails:
- Tamarind Collin ($7.00) – Fresh grapefruit juice, tamarind & clove syrup, passionfruit, lemon, soda
- Hibiscus Heart ($7.00) – Hibiscus syrup, mint, lime juice
Both mocktails were light and refreshing and very enjoyable!
Torafuku – Ricebowls and Speciality Noodles
For our mains we went with:
- Pork Belly Rice ($16.00)
- Seafood Rice ($25.00)
- Torafuku Beef Noodle Soup ($20.00)
- Duck confit noodle Soup ($20.00)
The Pork Belly Rice features Kakuni style braised pork belly kickass rice. The pork belly was tender and the egg yolk adds to the decadence of the dish.
New on the menu is the Seafood Rice. It features Hokkaido scallop, Totten inlet mussels, Thai spicy dressing on rice. I really like this new dish! The scallop was sweet and refreshing. The Thai spicy dressing really packs a punch and pairs so well with the scallops and the mussels.
The Torafuku Beef Noodle Soup is a signature item here and it features sake braised beef shank, beef broth, hand-pulled noodle, bok choy, soft poached marinated egg, pickled mustard. The beef shank is so tender and flavourful. The noodles are a perfect texture and have such a great chew. The beef broth is deep and flavourful!
Another new menu item is the Duck Confit Noodle Soup. This dish features duck broth, hand pulled noodle, bok choy, napa cabbage, pickled mustard and ramen egg. No body does ramen eggs better than Torafuku, and this one was so flavourful and jammy. The duck leg has a super crisp skin and is fall off the bone tender.
Worth a Try?
Torafuku always delivers on flavours and lunch is no exception. I really like the new dishes and the Seafood Rice is definitely one of my new favourites! I highly recommend you come here for a delicious lunch if you are in the area.
