Minami Dine Out 2024 Lunch Review

A must go to Dine Out Vancouver spot for me is always Minami. This Yaletown staple is serving up a $50 Dine Out Vancouver lunch menu this year with three courses and a drink pairing. Lunch comes in three courses: Minami Zen, Sushi, and Dessert. In addition, this year it also comes with a non alcoholic beverage pairing – Seasonal Minami Iced Tea. I got the chance to preview the menu before the start of the Dine Out season, and I was so impressed. Check out my full review of the Minami Dine Out 2024 Lunch below (but spoiler alert – definitely worth booking!)

To start our meal we received a delightful iced tea. It was light and refreshing and a great note to start off lunch. The Minami Zen came with the following items:

The miso soup was hearty and full of ingredients. The baby gem salad was light and refreshing and I love the presentation! The crunch of the lettuce was really lovely.

The Steelhead was very flavourful and moist. The skin was also nice and crispy. Farro is a whole grain that has a nutty flavor and a chewy texture. I really enjoy the chew of the farro with the fatty fish.

The Soy braised obie was fork tender and the chimichurri’s herby flavours really ligthens up the dish. The brussels and potatoes were a nice accompainment.

Next up we have the Sushi Selection. It features 1 piece each of salmon oshi, ebi oshi, saba oshi, red wave roll, champagne roll and 2 piece chef’s selection nigiri.

As always the sushi was excellent, no complaints here.

To end our meal, for dessert we got a Black Sesame Coconut Mousse. This features a coconut jasmine cream, cassis sauce, salted coconut crumble and cassis ginger jelly. It was not too sweet, and the perfect ending to a great lunch. In particular, the coconut jasmine cream was excellent.

Worth a Try?

Yes! For $50 this is an incredibly filling lunch, and a great way to experience Minami. I particularly like the iced tea to start the meal. It’s really refreshing and opens up the palatte for all the great dishes on the set menu. In past years this has been a very popular Dine Out spot, so I highly recommend you make reservations ASAP!
